Have you ever read a book that made you stop and think about things very deeply? Has any book you've read ever opened your mind? (Well, of course, almost any book opens your mind, but you know what I mean.)

(And if anyone says "the twilight books!!!1!1! I swear I'm going to go curl up and cry on the grave of the hopes of the World's Future)

The first book that pops into my mind was the Handmaiden's Tale by Margeret Atwood. I was pretty young when I read it and hadn't fully formed my opinion of the world; this made me think seriously about how easily something like this could happen. It also opened up a love of dystopian fiction in me; I moved on to such great works as Fahrenheit  (Ray Bradbury) and We (Yevgeny Zamyatin, which I've found is less known but an amazing book. Seriously.)

I read a book about Kurt Cobain, drugs, world issues, Terrorists (IF YOU CALL ME A TERRORIST JUST BECAUSE I AM RUSSIAN I WILL FIND YOU!) , and nukes and realized this: We created this "Hell" we live in with drugs, hookers, terrorists, rapists, murderers, druggies, ect. And realized that this world can end and be nuked at ANY given moment. I was REALLY depressed after that.

austipokedude : Wow dude, way to really try. You can't remember the name of it? What it was about? I know we're all trying for the post counts and stuff right now, but at least care enough to try to make quality posts, yeah?

The Hunger Games. It makes me think about corruption in North America, and how things might turn out in the future. It also makes me imagine what it would feel like if i was in the hunger games... and having to leave my twin brother, mom, dad, and little sis. when i think about that, it makes me feel like crying.
