I remember when I had finished playing Ocarina of Time and Majora's Mask, I was looking for a new Zelda game, 
I had heard of Twilight Princess but after looking into it I heard about The Wind Waker. So naturally I looked at Wind Waker as well,
comparing the two to see which was a better game to buy. Then I saw the pictures, no this wasn't Zelda, was it? Link looked terrible!
I . . .I felt quite lied to, I began playing Zelda because I was looking for a more mature adventure game than Mario but apparently not so.
Now what scares me about this particular art style is it seems to be Miyamoto's favorite it has been used in three titles already.
No other graphic style has been used that much, in fact pretty much every game has its own graphic style.(except for the three mentioned).

So, what do you think?

Wind waker was my first Zelda game after the NES (and a mobile version ripped off of it. I was unaware that it was a rip though), and I was rather shocked as well. Honestly the animation turns me away, big time. That's why I was so relieved when I saw Twilight Princess' animation style. The cartoony graphics don't match up with the stories the games tell. Kinda puts a damper on things for me.

I don't mind the graphics that much it is just another art style. Even though I prefer the Twilight Princess style, You have to give credit to the simplicity of it. the graphics were very clean in that game, almost like you would expect from a Wii.

Eiji Aonuma suggested cel shading because he thought it would introduce new ideas into the series. Though many have called the graphics catoonish or childish, the games are still Zelda games. And if you don't like them, play twilight princess, its awesome. That's all, the graphics aren't for everyone. Personally I just deal with it.

Eirinn : While some people dislike Twilight Princess, I think it was an awesome game. I think in a way it saved the series
from cartoonyness. And yes you're right, the cartoony graphics don't match the stories that the games tell.

I'm not saying that Wind Waker is a bad game, I'll bet it's lots of fun, I'm just against the graphics. I got to play a 20 minute demo of it on the
Zelda collection disk for the Gamecube, the game seems to have good gameplay.
And I'm actually a Huge Twilight Princess fan, although Ocarina of Time is my favorite game.

Hello vizzed user if you played zelda for long time how is it it good, it not so bad , or is it terrible. To me my answer would be terrible because it just doen make sense why does link travel all the way for girl/princess that not his girlfriend,wife,or friend with benifits. If he going to do this he is going to need to get some booty.

I like them. They're really good games, and I enjoyed them a lot. It reminds me of Link to the Past, except it's obviously cleaner-looking and more detailed than pixelation.

I guess I'm biased because I've always been into the cartoony Nintendo games. :p

My favorite style in the series is still Twilight Princess though.

Sword legion : He is one of the main developers for the series. He is also my favorite person ever because without him really not wanting to work on URA Zelda, we wouldn't have majoras mask ( if you want to know more about that just  ask, I kind of know everything about Zelda). And though wind waker received good reviews, many people didn't like the graphics, more than likely earning him that name. And yeah, twilight princess did have much better graphics, I can agree that twilight princess is a better game, but not just because of the graphics, yeah they make me feel like I'm 5 years old. But its Zelda, and it did get a lot of people who enjoyed the "fun" looking graphics to play that game and then become permanent fans of the series. I think the graphics were a smart move. And thanks for the comment on the layout, I made it myself.

Sword legion : Yeah, Twilight Princess kind of got me interested in Zelda games agian. Wind waker was fun enough up until it got to the part where you have to sail back and forth translating maps and finding tri-force shards. That part ruined it for me to the point that I actually just quit playing it (I don't think I've ever quit a game other than that one).

ender44 : Allow me to correct myself. I didn't care so much for the cartoony animation of wind waker in that it just didn't seem as fitting, but they did have some merit. It was funny at points to see some of his expressions. I liked that a lot, but at the same time, I much prefer the more serious look of Twilight Princess animation, and the battle action looks better to me than in toon form. Did the animation ruin wind waker for me? Not at all. In fact, I rather enjoyed myself with the game, until that darn triforce shard collection part. Sailing around and pulling up sunken treasures was fun at first, but the novelty wore off very quickly once the triforce shard questing began. Too bad because the game was good otherwise.

ender44 : Your welcome. And if he pushed for Majora's Mask then maybe he isn't hurting the series. He made Twilight princess after all.

I would agree that the best thing to do is to just enjoy the gameplay and get used to/ignore the graphics.

Eirinn : Yeah, I really hate sailing. It takes me like 20 minutes to sail from one place to another. And what's the deal with that huge squid. I just started and I'm sailing along, then a huge squid comes and I had to defeat it using only my boomerang, and even then it ate me. Then you have all of those stupid sharks that you have to jump over. Then you have all of the pirate posts that shoot bombs... yeah, I'm rambling. But I think the game could have done without the super annoying enemies while sailing. (this is kind of off topic, sorry)

I'm completely addicted to the Wind Waker right now. And I have also fallen in love with the art style. It doesn't annoy me at all. I guess I could see why it would be a turnoff when it was announced but it looks fantastic. Also I love the characters and story and music. You know, I love a lot of things about this game.

I don't care about the cell shading I still enjoyed wind waker if you don't like it don't play it
