Hello, I'm Xepheria and I wanted to see if this newbie Pokemon team is any good.  Lvl. 26 Combusken, Lvl. 25 Mightyena, Lvl. 21 Wingull, and a Lvl. 23 Kirlia.  What would you rate this?  If bad, what should I catch to make it better?  Thanks for viewing my post.

I don't think you should use a mightyena, ive beaten that game many a time, and I have tried mightyena before and he is not as mighty as his name would suggest.

i think that is pretty good for a starter group. but try to add a fire type, and maybe a lightning type in there as well. it will help balance out your team.

I wouldn't add an electric Pokémon. There aren't enough strong ones. Instead, teach your Kirlia thunderbolt, and that should be a good substitution.

You should swap wingull for a stronger water type like gyrados and get rid of mightyena because it isn't very useful. Also you should get a flying type to learn fly. I think the rest should be fine once you level them up and make them stronger.

Xepharia : That's a great team you have but I think wingull is not worth raising because it has only one evolution and that is pelipper  unlike other pokemon like cyndaquil which evolves into quilava then typhlosion so it gains more stats than wingull who evolves to pelipper only

Xepharia :   a good pokemon team is that you teach kirlia a strong electric type move like thunder bolt and if you can catch a raquasa but they are very strong so no it depends on the game you are playing and i think you are playing pokemon ruby/ emerald  so in ruby and in emerald teach kirlia Calm Mind as its very helpful and with psychic and thunderolt its very powerfull and cobusken is a good choice and for wingull i think gyrados and for mighthyena i dont know much but good for psychic type opponents so have it till its strong then it should be a good pokemon.

Xepharia : I think that team is great. You even have a bird so you can teach it fly. Great team and high levels compared to mine. I think you could improve it in many ways by getting better pokemon. And what version of pokemon are you playing.

You're team is much better now and azumaril is a pretty good substitue for wingull but I still suggest that you get rid of Mightyena because it will start to lose a lot as you progress through the game and you fight stronger enemies.

no offence but i think your team is rubbish mightyana doesn't learn good moves i guess wingull and combusken are ok well combusken is good but i think you should get an aron or somthing because they have good defence and good attack and you could get an electrike to evolve into manectric and then the team wouldn't be so bad

You should also find a Pokémon that can learn HM moves, no matter how terrible, and just use it for that purpose.  The games aren't that hard to beat as long as you're training throughout (except for the battle tower [or train in B&W])  Also, why only four Pokémon?

This is very useful, unlike Pokémon with a 4X weakness...(*cough* Gyarados)
However, I agree that you need more Pokémon. A good variety in types is a wise decision.
If you have a flying Pokémon, for example, a fighting type to counter a super effective rock move is a must.
A dark type can easily defeat a Psychic, which saves the fighting Pokémon.
Finally, the flying Pokémon from before can protect the Dark Pokémon from super effective Bug attacks.
This is why you should always have six Pokémon, with as many type combinations or move sets as you can.
