I've been feeling pretty terrible for the last few days. Headache, sinus and allergy problems, and stomach pains. My temperature has been normal, so I'm not sure why I've been feeling so bad. Anyway, I had a cup of coffee this morning so I'm feeling quite a lot better I don't drink it very often, but it does come in handy when I'm feeling really out of it. So do you drink coffee, and if so, how much and how often?

I drink at least six cups of coffee a day, which is pretty ridiculous if you think about it. I get major headaches when ever I don't have my usual morning cup of coffee, and its pretty awful. I am so addicted to caffeine, that when I go places, I either have coffee or some type of caffeinated drink in my hands. It plays a big part in my life, and I feel like without it, I wouldn't be able to make it through the day. Its pretty sad right? But hey, whatever works for me is good hehe

mscoral : I guess the only way to solve an addiction like that is to slowly lower the dose ...

I usually drink a cup of coffee a day.. I love the taste of Coffee... Yes I like coffee more than tea.. If you haven't figured it out by now I'm a rather weird Brit.

I will say however that I prefer to drink energy drinks over coffee.. It got to the point a few years ago where I was drinking 4 a day... I now can't drink that type of energy drink without my body having a rather negative reaction to it ..

COFFEE FTW

COFFEE ISN'T A LIFESAVER BUT IT DOES HELP YOU IN TIMES OF NEED WHEN YOU NEED A PICK ME UP..

I don't mind coffee, but it's not my favorite drink in the world.  Because I have such a high metabolism, most 'energy' drinks (such as coffee and red bull) don't really have an affect on me.  There's also the fact that I survived off energy drinks in college back when they were becoming a fad.

Therefore, if I drink anything with caffeine, it's for the flavor.  I feel like coffee sometimes just because it's warm and gives you a "I'm ready to face the day" feeling even if you don't like it or don't need the energy.  That being said, it's rare I have the time to appreciate that, as I'm usually in a rush between getting up out of bed and getting to work.

I'm not really a fan of coffee, but if I drink it; it has to be black, no cream or sugar. If you don't like muddy turpentine, you don't like coffee.

Oh also, I read somewhere that a cup of coffee a day helps with your heart or something, I'm not sure what it was, just that it has some actual health benefits.

Tamilist : I can relate to that. I hardly sleep as it is and caffeine does help but I rarely drink coffee. I drink soda primarily even if it is my determent. I am a coffee maker though and have been told I make a strong pot of coffee. My dad requests it. I guess he likes his coffee strong.

Far as sinuses and aches I’m with you there. I deal with allergies on a daily basis and there is nothing worse then getting one of those sneezing spells that seems like won’t end. I really don’t like those. Far as aches I deal with chronic back pain, leg cramps, and periodic migraines. All things I could do without but things that I’ve learned to accept as I have gotten older.

I'm kind a neutral on coffee.  If I drink one cup I have to have a second one or else I'll still be sleepy. Seriously imagine being at school or work or where ever you go during the day and your half asleep after drinking coffee, walking around with you head on your shoulder. And you can't at least doze off for about 5 minutes because you drank coffee, simply aggravating.
Ah, but I love the taste, especially when mixed with at least half milk.
Coffee, sometimes you are the only reason I get out of bed.

Oh no, coffee is gross xD
I'm surprised that I'm not a coffee addict because both my parents started to drink coffee when they were pretty young (my mom said she started drink coffee when she was in kindergarten lol).

If I drink coffee, it has to be "would you like some coffee with that cream and sugar?" hahahaha

Although, it does smell good and I'll eat candies/chocolate that have some coffee flavoring.

Yeah, I drink coffee, but there are only a few creams that I like, and I can not taste any black in my coffee. Needless to say, i am very picky when it comes to my Coffee.

I developed an unexpected taste for coffee during my teens.
In the small town where I received my diploma, there was a "Mom and Pop Coffee house" where allot of us hung out at. The high prices only indicated we were renting a table for a night. All night.
Chess, Music and news were the main attraction of what was on the menu. Plus those were free. Later when I moved to C.A. I ventured into several places to get that same experience to no avail. Chain Coffee houses are a strange business out here on the west coast. The people rarely talk and no one knows what to do with a rook piece. Thankfully a few can understand the jargon and language that goes with music, but lately they keep making mention of websites and "You-tube." These days I get the "plain coffee" and brew it myself. No Sugar and no creamer please. Every time I encounter another soul I get the impression they are on some form of medication rather than being young or not versed in conversation outside of their work place.
Coffee used to be a very social drink.
Now it's just another form of fuelling a body for the contracted servitude that they agree on calling a life.
That's just my thoughts on the new modern version of "the coffee house."
Back to the coffee.
I dig the drink. I miss what came with it.
Currently, I mix my protein shake mix with it in a cup before work.
It does what I need it to do. So, I'm functional for work and that's about all I can say about it. Everything else is just a waste of my time and cash.
I miss the times when I could say different.
That's me I'm done stick a fork in me.
Peace.

Tamilist : In regards to your post, I personally have never been much of a coffee drinker but I did find your post pretty interesting. For coffee could indefinitely be considered a life saver, in some sorts. Coffee contains antioxidants that help fight off free radicals from causing damage to human cells, and it can also help reduce the risk of Alzheimer's disease, dementia, Parkinson's disease, and even heart disease.

A cup of coffee a day is actually quite healthy for you (all things in moderation, right?)

I admit I drink a bit more than a cup a day most of the time.

orionfoxgibson : Where in California did you move to? I know that chain stores like Starbucks are very much as you described, but there are still a lot of little independent places that are more like what you had back home... you just have to hunt them out. One chain, "It's a Grind" also seems more group friendly in certain locations, especially when they are having a band perform.

Now, myself personally... I drink my coffee black. If I cannot drink it black, it isn't good coffee. A lot of times that means that it's too strong... I admit I prefer a more medium or breakfast blend most days. On the occasion where it is only a little bit too strong, I will add honey to the coffee and maybe a splash of almond milk.

It is a far cry from how I started drinking coffee as a teenager, when I would use French Vanilla creamer and sugar to make it taste like the cappuccino mix that I really liked. As I got older and my lactose issues got worse, the creamer started to leave a film in my mouth that I just did not like, so I stopped. Around that time, the guy I was dating had a French press coffee pot and Costa Rica Terrasu coffee from Trader Joes that was so good with absolutely nothing in it that I got hooked on black coffee and never looked back. I mostly drink Folger's and Gevalia now (nice combination there, right?), though I do like Seattle's Best now and then.

Generally I don't like Starbuck's coffee because they burn their beans and it always tastes bitter. Their Holiday Blend is the one exception.

I have to laugh about this post to be honest. I was just complaining to a friend how if I wanted good strong coffee I had to make it myself. I drink at least three cups a day, black, no sugar, no creamer, and definitely no flavorings. Which makes it hard to get coffee at a convenient store or Starbucks it's always either too weak or flavored with some crap like honey nut crunch. I mean the sad part? People actually like it. Me? I'm a good old fashioned coffee flavored coffee kind of guy. Just can't beat the smell and the taste to help you wake up.
I have to laugh about this post to be honest. I was just complaining to a friend how if I wanted good strong coffee I had to make it myself. I drink at least three cups a day, black, no sugar, no creamer, and definitely no flavorings.
