Mario Kart 64 or Sonic R? Which game is superior? Which one should you play? That is the question. 
 
They are very equal but let's take a look. . . 
 
 Graphics: Is comparison to the N64 the SEGA Saturn has clearer definition of the characters and the tracks then Mario Kart does to it's characters and tracks. So Sonic R wins here. 
 
  Sound/Music: the sounds to Sonic R win here because just listen to the music. It is incredible in comparison to Mario Kart here is an example. . .

  So Sonic R wins again, moving on 
 
 Gameplay: It really depends on what type or racing you prefer, I prefer Sonic R's fast up close, taking-the-turn-as-tight-as-you-can style of racing while remaining within 10 feet of one another rather then the pass your opponent with a star type racing, but that's just me.   
  
 Depth: as for depth, Mario Kart wins here because of 16 courses and the ability to do them in reverse, or mirror, or whatever it was. The game has more levels to experience then Sonic R 
 
 Overall: the overall of the game is that Sonic R wins because the competition is tougher an more feirce then Mario Kart and revolves more around skill then getting that star to catch up when you are behind.

I never played Sonic R but I heard the music and I liked it. I played Mario Kart 64, so I have to say I like that better. I might think differently once I buy a Sega Saturn.

I have played Sonic R on the Playstation 2 (Sonic Gems Collection) before and I thought it had ok Gameplay and an awesome Soundtrack. I think Mario Kart 64 is just a little bit better because in Sonic R you race on foot and in Mario Kart 64 you race in a Kart and Kart racing is more fun than racing on foot.

I think that sonic r was much harder and I played more because of that while Mario kart is a bit easier I love them both each have there own style and should be admired because of that Mario kart was the one that survived and is still getting sequels. I love them both.

I don't know why everyone hates sonic r. I believe that it was directed to younger (5-8 years) audiences when it came out because i played my first PC version to pieces( the disc couldn't be read). In terms of music Mario kart is more fitting, but sonic r had in a sense, better songs. While Mario kart 64 had more balance to the power ups than the new ones, sonic r was based entirely off of skill and knowledge of the course. Some say sonic r had bad controls, but really it controls almost or just as good as Mario kart with the lean buttons (lean right or left for sharper turns and better control). In terms of character diversity, sonic r is better as each character has different speeds and abilities, making for some to have advantages on certain courses. Super sonic was broken, Ami, robotnik, egg bot, and tails doll (slenders older cousin) suck for extra challenge.
