I my self have only conquered two fears well I have half beaten them both but not completely. The first one is of blood I used to vomit at even the sight of  blood for as long as I can remember but I was forced to face this fear two years ago when I swerved on my bike  to avoid some broken glass but I fell off hit my head and got some pieces of glass embedded in the palm of my hand. Luckily I was wearing a helmet but the glass just missed the veins (not that I knew that at the time), at that moment I was bleeding quite heavily (well it seemed heavily as my hand and arm was covered in about a minute or two, I almost had a panic attack because of the amount of it but I knew that I had to get to the gp (I left my phone at home and the gp was closer) it would normally have took me a few minutes but I went the long way so people did not see my hand (the long way was rarely used by people. When I got there I had to wait in the waiting room for ten minutes until someone came out to see me, by the time they did I felt really weak and some of the carpet around me had blood on it, anyway they just told me to put my hand up and wait a bit, (to my annoyance this stopped it) anyway they got the glass out but since then I have not been bothered by the sight of my own blood but the sight of others still makes me sick.
The second fear is heights this was only the other week actually because the classes I am taking at college (business law and psychology a levels) are all on the fifth floor of the college with would scare me in a normal building but the first floor is fifty feet tall on its own because of the way it is designed to have different levels on that one floor. The other floors though are fairly normal but as I went up in the elevator it jumped twice because of someone jumping (anyone who has been in a lift that has jumped knows how scary this can be) as I walked out of the lift with my heart already racing there was a glass wall right in front of me and you could see all the way down to the floor of the first foor. My mind then cast back to a school trip when I nearly fell of the edge of Warwick castle (this is where the fear started) and this made me even more anxious. I knew that I would have to face this three days a week four times a day so I took the bull by the horns and took up rock climbing (crazy I know considering my fear) but on my first lesson instead of fear I was fuelled with adrenalin to the extent that after two hours climbing I did not feel tiered (I wasn't saying that after half hour) but still I feel scared on the fifth floor but not as much.

If you bothered to read it all well done and thank you for taking the time

I used to be grossed out my spit/boogers/pee/poop/barf, etc. While they're still not pleasant to me or something I enjoy being near or touching, I have a 2 year old so it's funny how those things go away. I'm still really grossed out about strangers bodily crap but I'm less disgusted about it now than before. Also I'm pretty sure it's normal to not like that stuff, haha.

More relevant to the 'conquering fear' element of this post though, I used to have a crippling fear of sharks (even though I Was born and raised in the midwest...) and have nightmares about them all the time, couldn't watch them on TV or see pictures of them, etc. without turning away. Now, I don't care less. I have some friends that show me a bunch of shark pictures and comics and stuff now and it's like I was never scared of them at all for how little I care. =]

I guess some things you just grow out of.

I believe that one can never fully conquer his fears.  The anxiety will always return.  It is not whether you are not scared but that you are scared you press your way through you fears anyhow.  I don't  want to get in to any extent on how my philosophy works because I'm so tired.

Fear is a conscious acknowledgement of reality. It prepares you for obstacles. I would be worried if I didn't have fear because that would mean I'd have lost part of some attachment. The idea of being afraid shouldn't really have some time of stigma, rather it should be embraced and used as a tool like any emotion. Unfortunately, fear is bundled with pain as a feeling which should be avoided. They help us learn and press forward though so really we should treat them with the same equality as happiness or pleasure.

When I was younger, like when I was a kid, I was deathly afraid of escalators. My Dad tried pushing me down one when I was small, so I was really afraid of them for the longest time. Anyway, when I was in my mid-teens my best friend helped me overcome my fear and now I love going on them. That's the only fear I can think of that I've ever conquered.

Courage is not having the strength to go on, it's going on when you don't have the strength. ????

I've conquered all of them.  I'm unstoppable, unflappable, and full of confidence.  I can do everything, anything, and I always succeed.  I have no fear.  I only feel victory!  Or loss.  I lose.  I'm fine with it.

I can't count how many fears I've conquered. However, as it currently stands, the most important fear that I conquered was / is the fear of large crowds. It made it extremely difficult to go to school or out in public because of this fear - I couldn't go to the movies or the mall or do anything without feeling anxious.

Of course, that's not as big of an issue now. Thankfully.

I've not really conquered any of my fears, I've gotten better with my fear of darkness but it stills scares the hell out of me.
