Why do people get banned? Is it because they don have what people got so they dog them out and treat them like animals or what? I just trying to be sure if this is what I'm talking about.

People are banned when they break the rules. Some people outright ask to be banned - that's referred to as "ragequitting", I believe. Now, breaking most of the rules do not get a person banned right off the bat. Only certain rules do - like the bots, which aren't even human obviously. Then there is stuff like porn, deliberate viral attacks, and other such stuff like that. Spamming, flaming, etc. primarily gets a warning the first few times. Is there a specific thing you are seeking?

The quickest way to be banned is by posting images of or links to porn or gore. As soon as a moderator sees this, the post is deleted and the user is banned from all forums. If a local sees it first, they ban the user from any forum under their control and get in touch with the first global to come online to ban them from the rest of the forum.

But like Ktanaqui said, you can also be banned for breaking the rules, but these are typically only for repeat offenders. Someone who breaks the rules or is spammy or disrespectful (To any members--not just staff) will receive a written warning which goes on your PERMANENT RECORD. Typically, once a user has been brought to the attention of the other mods for spamming, we like to keep an eye on that user. If I get to know your user name, it's probably a bad thing.

After you receive your warning, if you continue to do that thing, depending on the severity you may be banned on the spot, or you may get another warning. It all depends on the user and the mods who happen to be around at the time.

Well, to add to Lazlo by a tiny bit:

A mod knowing your name isn't necessarily bad. For example, some of the mods (from what I gather) know my name already simply because I am so active in such a short time and that's not a bad thing. So - it's really just whether you are bad about breaking the rules.

Ktanaqui : Well I did say it's "probably" a bad thing if I know your name. I also know Leggy's name, and I'd say that isn't a bad thing.



...That is unless you count the fact that I used his name to find his birth record, social security number, and opened a few lines of credit for him...

Lazlo Falconi : Not to be lame or anything but Identity theft is a pretty serious crime and anyone who has had it happen to them probably doesn't think it's a very funny topic. Seeing as you're a mod with access to members email addresses and potentially their first+last names I don't think it's in the community's best interest that you joke around about identity theft... Thank god this is why I have identity theft protection and I recommend everyone at least understands what identity theft is and has some kind of plan if they were to ever become a victim.

I dunno not trying to be rude or condescending or anything , I'm just giving you my opinion as a user of this site, it MAY develop distrust amongst users if they read a mod saying he commits identity theft... Even though you made it fairly clear you are just joking.

I have a question, if someone has been considered to be a bad member but they do eventually like change and become a good standing member, even though they have things that are bad on their permanent record, does the way they changed for the better get taken into note, so to speak as well?

SunflowerGaming : Not speaking for Vizzed specifically... but any and all forums that I have been a mod or admin of usually takes any changes into consideration if the user did not manage to get themselves banned. I wouldn't be surprised if Vizzed did too.

I know there have been people on this site who have been banned but given a second chance, me being one of them, and if the person does actually change, it seems like everyone doesn't hold their past mistakes against them. As far as I can see anyway. Thanks for answering my question.

SunflowerGaming : Yeah, generally admins and mods are pretty forgiving everywhere unless you /really/ screwed up.

LegolasJJH : I get where you're coming from, but pretty much everyone already knows Lazlo and that he's just a jokester, so I'm pretty sure you're the only one that thought anything of it. Well, except for a bunch of people that just joined, but who cares. You shouldn't judge someone as a mod because of one obvious joke they made about their friend, so if they do that, that's just dumb on their part.

You make it sound as though you've had identity theft problems in the past, which sucks and I'm sorry for you. But really, try not to be so sensitive.

Also I don't know whether it's funny or irritating that this whole thread is sandwich posting from ktanaqui, hah. Post count +4, I guess. ;]

KG : Naw it didn't offend me at all , I took it as a joke. My job is actually helping people who have become victims of identity theft ! I think it was just my work half shining through lol, I spend all day hearing about people who have been victims of identity theft , and I assure you, none of them think it's funny... It's just one of those things that some people don't think is a joking matter no matter what... Like joking around about taboo topics or maybe making disrespectful jokes about someone who recently passed away etc.

Like I said , it didn't bother ME at all, so I apologize if my preaching/lecture bothered anyone. I just thought that its not really the best thing for potential new members to be reading.

SunflowerGaming : It depends. Once a person has a pretty good posting record, we sort of stop monitoring them as much as before, and they can even become trustworthy members. Our great and fearless leader Leggy is a prime example of someone who was banned, and now is the very tippity top of respected members.


But I would say that rather than "Forgive and forget", we forgive, but don't forget. Even if a user has a few years of a good streak, then starts becoming spammy or argumentative again, that previous behavior is remembered, and possibly used against that member.
