I never really give my Pokémon any nicknames I just leave them alone and keep them with their original names so that when they evolve their names change. There is nothing wrong with naming Pokémon, like their are some really cool potential nicknames for Pokémon like someone named their electivire Zeus. I just leave the names the same and I don't really mess with it because I can't really think of any cool nicknames for all of the Pokémon I catch when I should be ev training. So no I don't give out nicknames but it is completely cool to give them names if you are super creative with it, I can just never think of any good ones that's all.

When ever I do (which is rare) play Pokémon, I don't nickname them in the older versions because for me its easier to pick through what Pokémon I want for my team and it helps when organizing a the PC box'ed Pokémon. But in the more frequently released  Pokémon games(Ruby-Black 2) I do nickname them shorter versions of there name and type.

I never give my Pokemon nicknames. The easy answer to why I don't is because I simply can't come up with a good name fast enough. I just want to catch the Pokemon and keep on with the game. I never go to that man's house where you can change the nickname. I never really have time to do that.
