I believe that people make threats because they feel a lack of power that they believe they need. As in, they feel that they hold absolutely no sway - so they threaten to try to gain that which they are missing.

Yeah that makes sense. I never understood why certain people feel the need to feel powerful. I mean it's not like they can actually control another person anyway. And strong people fight back with a mean vengeance.
