I have always liked Mario a lot more because I have played Mario games a lot more than I have played Sonic games and to me, Mario games are more interesting.

This is the one time where, no matter my mood, I ALWAYS put Sonic over Mario.  I love his newer games far more than most of the Mario games I've been seeing lately. I also love the characters, and wish some of them could get the limelight a little bit more *coughChaotixcough*.
I don't deny that Mario is iconic and that he's had some great RPGs, and that Super Mario 3D World was brilliant, but I just love Sonic that much more. (Plus, I grew up with Genesis, not the NES)

I pick sonic hands down I've played the old mario once or twice and I hated it the only mario I played that I like was mario 64 for the nintendo 64 and mario sunshine for the gamecube and couldn't ever play them long enough to beat them. I don't like the gameplay or mario at all now I liked the wario and luigi games I really like luigi's haunted mansion. sonic is one of my favorite games I played almost all yhe sonic games but my favorite was sonic 3 D blast for the saga genesis and I like sonic because let's face it he can beat mario even if luigi, wario, peach, bowser helped him and thats why i like sonic.

I'd prefer Mario over Sonic any day. I had more access to Sonic, but it was always way too fast for me. Besides that, not having to get every ring almost made the game pointless to me. I felt like I could zip around without abandon, and still, I frequently died.  :/

Mario seems sorta... bland I mean an Italian plumber that can use flowers to shoot fire? Now a mutant blue hedgehog that is a master in parkour and gymnastics and can run fast, that's unique (did you know sonic can't swim because the creators thought hedgehogs couldn't swim?)
