Zelda of course because there are levels that is longer. You can get more stuff that you can keep forever, and to collect every piece of equipment which might take a while if you don't know how to get it. Also the story is way better than mario.

This one is easy, even though Mario is fun and all Zelda is definitely better! It has way more action and excitement and I have always been a fan of RPG's over platforming games anyway.

I have to vote for Mario. I loved Super Mario 64 - and never beat it. And Zelda seems really pathetic with Link always having to say her. Now, if you'd said Link vs. Mario... that'd be different.

They are both different types of games but I prefer Zelda, and here is why.
1, There are a bunch of reasons why Zelda is addictive, here are some of them. There are side quests, fun and sometimes challenging Dungeons, Lots of interesting Items, and just the game-play is simple yet fun.

2, While Zelda is light on plot compared to other games, it is like Shakespeare compared to Mario. The story's are pretty epic, and characters are likable, you are a knight trying to save a kingdom. While the story is simple it has more substance than Mario, and if you believe in the split time line then the whole series is on big story that takes place for century's,

3, Zelda isn't really that difficult unless you don't upgrade your hearts and potions, but the older games where more difficult. But for the newer games the challenge comes from trying to collect everything, which can take awhile.

4, All in all Zelda is just an enjoyable series, and you can also argue that there has not been one bad Zelda game. And while Zelda isn't as deep, or complex of other games there is just something special, fun about the series.

So while Mario is fun, in my opinion, Zelda just beats it in all categories. And in all honestly my life is pretty boring, so I would rather immerse myself as a hero having a long and epic quest, than a fat plumber jumping on stuff.
