I just wanted to see who the best Mario character is just because there are so many different ones and I want to see other peoples opinions on this topic. Characters can be from any game as long as they are mentioned in some way, (koopa troopas and goombas do not count). Thought this would be a fun little thing to do since I haven't seen many of these on the board.

Wario, if he counts (Can't imagine why he wouldn't), would probably be my choice of best character. Mario's definitely more important (As is Luigi, Peach and Bowser), but there's just something interesting about Warios personality. He doesn't seem like the typical video game hero or villain, depending on the game. As a villain he's not the embodiment of evil or a monster, he's just a greedy bastard. As a hero he's still a greedy bastard, and I love that. He's not trying to save princesses, he's trying to get his money back most the time. Not to mention his Gameboy games are probably my favorite Mario related games on it.

I like Mario as a game... but it doesn't really have many great characters. If forced to pick, I'd probably go with Toad... just because he sounds really funny in Mario Sports Mix. The Princess characters are alright and so is Bowser.

The best mario character to me happens to be bowser, because bowser can do so much different things. He can blow fire he can teleport i only wished that they could make a game based on bowser.

I have to go with Luigi, because he don't get enough credit for helping out Mario and saving him in Luigi's Mansion. Also he is just better in my opinion he can jump higher which give him the ability to go to places that Mario can't.

As weird as this may seem, I think Rosalina may be my favorite Mario character.  She may only be part of Super Mario Galaxy, but I think she has a pretty neat role in the story.  I think she's pretty cute too!  I kinda got confused with the relation with her and Peach, if they even have one...  If I had to pick any generic mario character though, I would pick Toad.  I've always liked toad!

I've always been a fan of Yoshi.

There's lots of Yoshi's, but that's what makes him as a character in whole pretty near I say. Can spit fireballs, hover with his feet AND fly, can eat practically anything, one if not the fastest characters in all of the Mario games...

It's just a really weird concept, but a character like Yoshi is just really weird yet neat to me. Plus he is pretty much my Childhood. Yoshi's Island and Yoshi's story!

Luigi has been my favorite ever since I played as him in the original Super Mario Brothers. I think it started as because he was my favorite color green, but eventually as the Mario characters got more personality, he just appealed to me more. The less brave one, but willing to do what he must, having slightly varied abilities from Mario (usually less strong but more technical in the sport games, ability to jump higher, his flutter jump...), and even how the video games like to play him as a nobody just makes me like him more. I used to think they did that because they wanted the focus on Mario, but I can now see that it was a way to get more people in Luigi's corner.

I also happen to like Daisy, I just wish she'd be some sort of playable character in something more substantial than then party/sports games. Granted, not even Peach has been in that many playable positions (Smash Bros, Super Princess Peach, Super Paper Mario, SMRPG, and the party/sports games I think), but a nice throw in with her once and awhile would be cool. Same with Waluigi; maybe he could get a small secondary role in the Wario games.
