i have had both happen to me i ran from a shiny budew in platenum i wasent looking at the scrren so i looked and i thout it was a normle budew and 2 seconds later i relazed it was a shiny i scremed for about 6 minutes and in gold a shiny tingala apperd the first thing i thout was it will run so i used a pokeball it shacked 3 times but dident catch it and then it fled and i saw it coming also i em never catching a tingala again just to make this 100 words...

Yes once I ran away from a shiny kyorge! I was like 8 I did not know what it was or why it was purple so I turned off the game thinking it was a glitch! I think that would be like running away right? And I'm sure I have ran away from a normal shiny before too. Most likely because I was out of pokeballs.

man thats  gota hurt the same thing happen to me wen i was like 6 i was playing silver and i found a shiny lugia and same thing a thot it was a glitch so i turnd the game of and after i raged so hard because my last save was 2 gyms before lugia so it sucked

I haven't had either happen to me but in HeartGold when I was training by Mt. Silver I wasn't paying attention and fainted a shiny Rapidash and only realized after I had used the attack.

No shiny has run away or I run away from them. However I have killed a Shiny Stantler that I chained,  I found a uncatchable shiny Geodude on an unsavable game and got a shiny Zigzagoon in emerald while trying to get shiny Mudkip and out of those only Stantler was a shiny I didn't own before or after.
