First shiny was a Noctowl in Pokemon Gold. It was a bit after Ash had caught his own Shiny Noctowl in the anime series itself so I thought it was the best thing ever.

I feel that shiny Pokemon were way too common in Gold and Silver, I'd find one every 15 battles or so.

Shiny geodude in Emerald. Funny thing is, it was the first geodude I ever encountered. Then the game decides to troll me by giving it a MODEST NATURE. (if you don't know what natures are, they raise a certain stat and lower a certain stat. Modest lowers attack and raises sp. attack)

My first shiny I caught was a tranquil in Black version a short while before I saw a shiny swadloon but didn't think anything of it so it fainted. My shiny sceptile and absol I got in a wifi trade and gts trade. It's mostly pure luck if you see a shiny in the wild since it's really hard to find one.

My first and only shiny was a Sandshrew in Pokémon Snakewood (a hack of Ruby that's in the RGR).  Oddly enough, I found it right after I caught a guaranteed shiny (the Aerodactyl).

As for how to find shiny Pokémon: don't.  There are some methods to improve your chances, but it stays so small that it's not worth it to look unless you don't have anything else to do with your time.  It's better to just play like normal, and if you're lucky you'll find one.

pokemon platinum found a shiny geodude... it was an amazing golden color but of course me being an idiot was spamming the a button and killed it ever since then i have never found one in the wild so thats why i hate geodudes

I can't remember if it was a Pelliper or Psyduck but I do remember catching one of the 2. Also a tip on catching shiny Pokémon, I believe is that if you do EV training it can affect your encounter rate chance by a lot. At least that's what I've heard.

I actually found and caught a good amount of shinies. Only 2 of the shinies I found I didn't catch. I found and caught: 
Leafgreen:
~2 Bellsprouts! (In different save files, but the same area)
~Exeggcute (in the Safari Zone!)
~Paras
The other one I caught was a Wingull and was in a hack and yes, it was the normal shiny-find chance.

Pidgey in Leafgreen, because it was in the very beginning of the game and I had no pokeballs. Dx
Murkrow in Diamond, because Cheryl's (the girl who travels with you a bit in Eterna Forest) Chansey fainted it with Egg Bomb! I've hated that thing ever since.

My first shiny was a Spheal from Sapphire. I didn't even know what a shiny was back then. The only reason I caught it was because I thought it was strange that it had different color fur. Makes up for all the mistakes my younger self made in that game.

I was in one of the caves originally searching for shiny Pokémon, and I didn't find any, but as I am about to give up and leave, I run into a shiny numel, and I get so excited! A bluish numel! Luckily I have a pokeball, and I caught it on the first try. And The second shiny Pokémon I caught was in Pokémon light platinum, unfortunately there is an error in the hack where you can't tell the difference between them, and I checked the pokemon's information box and it was a different color. It was a Yamask, not my favorite Pokémon. But these are the first 2 and only 2 shiny Pokémon I have seen and successfully caught.

My first shiny was  the Red Gyarados from Gold and Silver. That's pretty cheap, I know, but it's the truth!

Though I did once catch a shiny Rattata and a shiny Yanma (I think that's it's name), those weren't my first. The Gyarados was.
