rcarter2 maxed out the score but that doesn't come as a surprise because this is definitely not the first time he's done this. Congratulations to him yet again.

Haha. After not really even competing last month, I had to make up for it.

Once I found out about the continue exploit I knew someone would max it out. Congrats!

It's exploits and the like that ruins high score competitions for me. It's also why I prefer screenshot competitions. No real "exploits" to be had

Although with speed runs... I'm curious how that'll work out.

I wasn't aware of this competition!! I could have potentially won!

Will you be having this competition again....if so, when? I'd like to participate....I happen to LOVE fighting games!

Also, is there a reward for the winner or is it just for fun? Either way, I'm interested!

If I had known such exploit was allowed I would've entered. It just didn't seem fair to win like that.

legacyme3 : I agree. I actually had a submission that didn't use the exploit, but when I saw seishiro playing for a long time and telling me that I should expect to get 2nd, I knew he was using the exploit. I was hoping to not have to use it.

I wish it were possible to see who uses the exploit without having to guess or look at scores like yours which were obviously done with it

Then we could just DQ the entries that used the exploit and give it to the people who are good at the game, rather than the players who can play for a long time doing basic things.

A suggestion would be some sort of video recording that the staff can look at to verify the validity of the score. lol

But that's too much work for most and I wouldn't dream of it working.

legacyme3 : Yeah. My original score was actually just barely over 3million. I submitted it and saw that I would lose at the last minute since the exploit was being used. A video submission would keep things in check buy you are right. It would take a lot of time. Also, many don't have decent screen recording programs. I had camstudio (or something like that). It sucked so much I just deleted it. You happen to know of any good ones for free?

Either way it's pretty much out of the question. I mean who would be watching all the videos to make sure they are legit? I'd do it, but even I have my limits.

legacyme3 : I hear ya. I'm just glad that only a few of my high score competition wins were won this way. I don't like doing it, but I don't like to lose that way either If I know someone is doing it, I do it right back. 

I hear you guys about the exploits. That's why when I find that there is one, I usually don't participate in that months contest. Just because I don't have 4 hours to sit there and try to max out the score.

Well, reading this thread has single handedly deterred me from entering any score competitions in the future. I was debating entering the high score competition this month, Thunder & Lightning, and even gave it a quick go. Game was super fun and I was gonna try again till I checked the scores. Like, what the hell, 4 hours? I was completely discouraged at the time, but mainly because I thought I was not good enough to keep up. 

   NOW, I have to go and read this, that people use 'exploits' to maximize their score by having lengthy games with maximum continues or whatever the particular 'exploit' is, I don't really care. Now, instead of feeling discouraged, I am deterred. It's unfortunate because I thought those high score competitions were a good idea! I wanted to enter the SF2 one, but I haven't played it in quite a while, and I figured I'd get blown out of the water, haha...Mind you, not by 9,999,999 points...

   Anyway, sorry this post is so long. I was so upset by reading about exploiting scores, that it single handedly provoked this rant out of me. I don't post in forums normally, just read them.

CinatasId : It does get a little discouraging where there are exploits that ruin the fun I get it, but not all competitions are like that. The simple fact is that some games were just built with certain exploits and if you find them you can use them if you so choose. I choose not to use the codes and exploits myself but anyone can google and look at lot of them up...except for the one used with the Thrillas Surfari game this month...I'm still stumped about that one lol

Not all of the competitions are like that though. For example I'm pretty darn sure all of the scores from this months high scores are legit and the people with the high scores are really good at the game with a lot of practice. I know there are a few users on here that really enjoy this game Davideo being one of them.

Jordanv78 : Yeah, I know. These things just have a way of implanting themselves into my head, haha. Makes me sceptical when I know it's unavoidable and especially when I know particular individuals use them. For example, if now I know for a fact "player" used exploits or cheats to win game "A", I will be sceptical if they have a high score on game "B". So if I see them competing in game "B" , and they are doing exceptionally well, I will have to wonder. I mean, anything is possible with computers today. In this case it may have been very apparent to everyone, but I'm sure the cheating or exploits can be much more subtle. 
Like, to use an exploit just because someone else did, shows that people will stop at nothing to win, haha. Which is fine until it becomes unfair.
   EITHER WAY, none of this actually upsets me or deters me from enjoying the actual games! That is for sure!
   Just a mark of scepticism about participants in the high score competitions.

CinatasId : You really don't have to worry about anyone using an exploit in Thunder and Lightning like this competition. The current top 3 scores were done with skill. Only reason mrjiggyfly's time is so long is because he paused it and left his computer for a long time, so it wasn't done all in one setting. As for Thrilla, we know the current 1st place was done using a glitch, giving him an impossible time. David knows what he did and is unsure as to how he feels about counting it. So please don't be deterred. I know I used the exploit, but only because I knew seishiro was using it and I didn't want to lose my spot on the last day like that
