I thinking now that it might not have been intentional and maybe something just happened with the time trial mode or something. He actually did a high score run as well. His screenshot was on the last level and took 53 minutes. If he were manipulating something, I would assume he would have done it there too. Since he did not, it was probably not even something he did

Jordanv78 : I have a feeling if a lot of people end up beating this, they will have used that infinite lives code. I don't know if I am going to be able to beat this game in a month since I'm not going to use it. I have practiced all the levels with save states and can do most of them well enough to beat it, but the bosses are just freaking insane

rcarter2 : Yeah I wish there was some way to disable codes, but oh well. The game is still hard even if you have infinite lives. I've messed around with the game a little bit the past few days and I can tell that it's going to be a challenge.

I always appreciate games that have this kind of Nintendo difficulty. Will be pretty rewarding if I can beat it without save states but I'm not sure that's going to be possible for me without a bunch of practice. lol

madison : The first boss was one of the harder ones, in my opinion. The crab bosses are easy. World 5 boss can be annoying too. So pretty much the 2 rhino bosses are the hard ones. Although if my memory serves me right, the scorpion boss of world 6 is borderline unfair unless you know exactly how to beat him.

To do that, basically we'd have it load a save state at the beginning of the first level when you play in time trial mode. There were 2 high score competitions in which I used a manipulation to max out a score (last months being one of them), so it would be hypocritical of me to say his shouldn't count. If it is something that anyone could do if they knew how, it's fair game. My only concern was if it had anything to do with when you had to temporarily close speed run mode. But I assume that isn't the case.

rcarter2 : For the older brother shark, I have a strategy that works some of the time (sometimes I still lose once or twice). It's kind of hard to explain, but I position myself close to the shark and I go to the very bottom of the screen and mash the attack button. When the shark gets hit, he stops spitting out garbage temporarily, so I then use that opportunity to swim to the very top of the screen, and mash the attack button there. Then when you hit the shark from there, swim back down and do it all over again. Sometimes though when you hit the shark, he's still too close the middle of the screen, and you should stay on the bottom (or top) until you hit him again.

madison : That is pretty similar to mine. It just seems that is the one part of the game I am super inconsistent with. I actually do pretty well only losing a few lives for the rest of the game. But that shark makes me lose enough lives to make me not last through the rest of the game. It seems the times I do well against him are the times I really do bad on the coconut games, so I have very few lives anyway. 


EDIT: Finally beat it. I'll admit though that I did use the warp from stage 1-3 to stage 3-1. However, I did it losing 2 lives.
