Today's message will come from John 5:8  The back ground scripture will come from John 1:9.

I asked God to deliver to me a message to give unto you, and when he told me to go to John 5:8 I said that must someone out there is doubt/not believing God's power to heal.  You see after God sent me this message I said to myself.  I said " self." Myself said "hmm"  I said " Some of these people out there must have forgotten the great power of God.  The very God that created the universe.  The very God that parted the Red Sea.  The very God that raised Lazarus from the dead.  The very God -------- that created you and me."  Myself said " If I had 1000 tongues I couldn't tell you all of God's  Amazing Grace and Holy Power."

God wants me to remind you that he is the mightiest doctor.  God wants me to remind you that before you had anything he was your everything.  So it says in John 5:8 Jesus saith unto him, Rise take up thy bed, and walk.  All it took here a few words make a man of infirmity for 30 years to be healed.  You see God doesn't have to do much to heal you.  No surgery.  No needles.  No nothing.  All God has to do is speak a word and it shall be so.  You see this man who infirmity for 38 years could not move very well so he laid as other flocked to pool of water where and angel of the Lord and troubled it make the first step within to be made whole, but when the man had given up hope along came Jesus.  He ask the man if he want to be made whole and the man said he has no one to take him.  Jesus said Rise take up thy bed, and walk.  Verse 9 And immediately the man was made whole, and took up his bed, and walked: and on the same day was the sabbath.  Wow.  The reaction time.  God said get and IMMEDIATELY he was made whole.  God has power of life and death, and he does what he sees fit to do.  God doesn't even have to be near the sick  A centurion man came Jesus saying a soldier is sick but his house was not worthy for Jesus to come there, but if He would just speak the word that his friend would be made whole.  And because of his faith his friend was made whole.

It has now come to a time that we only use God as a last resort, but what God is telling you is " Come to Me first and see that I will fix things"  Don't what till the last moment to go to God because often times the last moment may be to late  for have slept in your grave.  God can heal any aliment that you may have.  You just have to go to him and pray to the Lord.  Ask Him to forgive your sins.  Ask Him to heal you.  And then when you done asking tell Him thank for all that he does.  And Watch God Change things.

I actually misread this as gods hating power, hence i went to read it.
That being said only doctors are curing cancer so i think the humans make for better doctors.

I would like to see the 'cured' persons medical records, both before and after the cure.
Its not abnormal for people to fake amassing recovery at the hands of god.

thenumberone :   When the doctors told my cousin that he wouldn't live past one, the power of God spared him and he's now one his way to college.  When my Uncle died of cancer he was smiling because it was through the graze of God that at the moment his death he was able to move his legs.  My aunt had and never went to the doctor but once when she was diagnosed, but now she has been cured for nearly 5 years.

i think the power of modern medicine has more to do with it.
If its god then he must hate africans, because they die off in the thousands every day.

thenumberone : In my introductory course for Sociology, I learned that the high death rates in Africa are caused by an imbalace of food produced in this world. The imbalance is not caused by the droughts, but by the constant state of civil war the many countries have due to the many Muslim extremist and terrorist groups. Whenever they find village, they capture everyone and burn the crops. Modern medicine and God have nothing to do with it.

As for the articles you linked, those are not the first ones I have seen. I have been confronted with this question before concerning God's healing power. These cases of ignoring medicine and only praying for God to heal are just like driving in a car without a seat belt but expecting God to keep you safe. Christians have to use medicine; I am taking two prescriptions to help me with concentration and depression. Yet medicine does not guarantee good effects either. Ever noticed that most medicines are designed to treat two problems yet are capable of creating a dozen side effects at the same time? Really. Many anti-depressants have a warning that says, "teens and young adults may begin to have suicidal thoughts" because of the medicine.

Gods healing power is truly incredible. If only people had more faith we might see it a little more. That's why in poor areas of the world we see God work the way he did in ancient times such as the verses you mentioned where it was a little more blatant and less disputable. Because people there have more faith. Whereas here in America we are much more complacent and have less faith and so these things just don't happen here more.

thenumberone : If God wanted to make such drastic changes, He could. However, he would not limit it to only one section or group. He would come to bring His judgement upon everyone, and it would not be just for those who have committed adultery, murder, etc. in the physical sense. He would also judge us by our thoughts as well --everything we try to do in secret. The reason He holds back His power is to give us all the opportunity to ask for His forgiveness.

Also, what constitutes suffering? It is not always something physical or quantifiable that is suffering. The physical life will end but there is life after death, and that is the life I want as well as I wish for everyone else to have.

the suffering im referencing is child soldiers, rape, murder, corruption, std's, diseases, malnutrition.
If god is testing us then apparently blacks have really ticked god off because they seem to be getting the worst of these 'tests.'
The medicines given by the west have stalled malaria and aids, if they put there faith in healing upon god, they'd all be dead by now.

God doesn't answer prayers for anybody, and doesn't waste his powers on saving one life. If yo u are saved from a disease or an accident thank luck and the doctors who treated you not the man who set everything in motion.

I think that God's healing miracles are VERY much for today, just as they were in the old.  God is the same today as He was yesterday, and as He will be tomorrow.  I have witnessed God's healing powers first hand, as have many of my Christian friends.  One of them spilled a boiling pot of water on her hands.  Her family circled around her and prayed over it as they cried in worry.

Not a mark was left on her body.

I don't understand how people can believe it's gods will no matter what way it goes. If they are healed it's his divine power, if they don;t get better, they say he must have a greater plan for them then. Since he is believed to be there in both cases, why is it so hard to believe he isn't there in either case and it could be just chance that determines the outcome? I say this not to be inflammatory but to understand a different perspective. Personally I have never seen of felt the presence of god and just can't believe in a being such as him.

jamjdckr : First I respect what you said and I will try my best to answer that question to the best of my ability. First I will admit to you that I do not go to church however I do deeply believe in God and his healing power and comfort in times of need.

I have been through many ups and downs in my life. I was born disabled and have been through several surgeries. I will also admit that I was not the most mature person in my teen years and wasn’t the best or most honest person. I made many mistakes which I take full responsibility for and went through a lot of hardship as a result.

About seven years ago I became sick with what amounted to be a case of high blood pressure. Although some may not consider high BP serious believe me it was. My family and I were also going through a rough time. It was during this time that I began to start getting a better understanding of my spiritual side and I firmly believe that God made it possible for me to heal from the high BP problem that I had. It was so bad that I had rushes in my arms and sometimes my heart would beat fast. I couldn’t raise my arms without feeling the rushes in my arms and such and I went several months with this problem. I won’t sit here and tell you that I was healed or cured overnight because I wasn’t but I firmly believe that God kept his hand on me and made sure I got to a doctor and got the treatment that I needed at the time.

I will also tell you that there have been times over the years where I have been angry at God for certain things in life not going well. It’s only natural to at some point, it’s all a part of gaining a deeper relationship with god.

My family and I have been through many ups and downs through the years both before and after I was sick with high BP. Despite all the stresses and struggles we’ve all been through God has kept his hand on us. One of my sisters has been battling stage four breast cancer for almost four years. She has been through so much and there was a time where we went a couple of years and hardly spoke to each other. The fact that she’s still here after being diagnosed as stage four after nearly four years I consider a miracle. I am also grateful to God that I was allowed to patch things up with my sister. She has had some close calls. The cancer has come and gone into remission a couple of times she’s had surgery and almost died.

Had something happened to my sister and we hadn’t talked things out and resolved everything I would never have forgiven myself. There is an old saying that as I have gotten older I have come to believe more and more and I have said it here on Vizzed before. The lord works in mysterious ways. Sometimes things just can’t be explained in scientific terms, sometimes it can be a series of things that happen to balance everything out. It can’t be explained really but that is where faith comes in. In my sister’s case as I said we went a couple of years without speaking much and this was due to strained feelings within our family. She hardly ever came around during that period of time and as I said barely talked to us, it wasn’t just me but pretty much the entire family. It’s hard to explain but I truly believe in my heart of hearts that her circumstances that she found herself in just prior to her being diagnosed and everything that came afterwards brought her back to her family and I believe that God had a hand in that. As I said we were able to sit and talk things out but one thing that also consider a blessing is that I was able to spend more time with my niece and nephew during that period and was able to be there for them and my sister. Although there is a possibility that I may lose my sister at some point I am grateful for being given the opportunity to patch things up with her. I would have never forgiven myself otherwise.

As far as me, I firmly believe that God blessed me with the ability to be a writer and once I realized that it was my calling I devoted myself to it. Once I realized the errors of my ways I became more mature, humble and grounded. In many ways I consider myself a much better person than I was when I was a screwed up teenager and I owe that to God for not only keeping his hand on me but also for putting a couple of really good people in my life who wouldn’t give up on me. I will also admit that it didn’t happen overnight and it took me a while to realize things and get the wake-up call that I needed.

I am grateful that I got the wake-up call while I was in my early 20’s and not when I was much older because it gives me an opportunity to change things for the better which isn’t necessarily easier if you’re in a later stage of life. One thing that I like to do is offer advice to people, particularly here on Vizzed. If I could be of help to someone simply by sharing some of my experiences then I feel like I have done good. I am still in the process of trying to better myself and I think that is something that never really goes away. You have to keep aiming for something, whether it be a goal or simply just wanting to be a better person.

Even in the worst of times when things don’t work out the way you want them to, God is always there. As I said there have been times where I have been angry at god. This mostly came in the form of either various struggles that I had been through and or losing people who were close to me. Even when things have been really bad I always tell God how I’m feeling even during those times when I’ve been angry. It’s all a part of having a relationship with God. As for why God allows things like that to happen when he does have the power to heal and such well, I look at it as God makes you strong in certain ways but there are things that he puts you through to help you become stronger on your own. In many ways going through the struggles and the ups and downs of life can make you a stronger person if you let it. It can be trying at times, it certainly has been for me but if you allow yourself to mature as you get older you can understand why things happen the way they do.

I look at my experience seven years ago as the experience that made me open my eyes and realize that I didn’t like where my life was going. It wasn’t all bad but there were certain things that I just didn’t like about myself or, some of the people that I kept company with that I needed to change. I look at that experience as a time that allowed me to reflect on things and realize A what I was doing wrong with my life and B what I needed to do to try and make some changes. The changes can be as simple as just maturing as a person and not repeating the same mistakes. I’m still learning and am still in the process of trying to better myself but I am a better person than I was in my youth. I owe that to God.

Although going through trials and tribulations is not an enjoyable experience it does two things. It builds character and strengthens your faith. Even when things are at their absolute worst, without faith things won’t get better. We all go through things that test our faith in one way or another, I certainly have had my faith tested on more than one occasion. I feel it is how you deal with those obstacles that shape who you are. I’m not sure if it’s part of God’s plan but I do know that no matter what God is always there for you. I hope I answered your question as best as I could. I hope at that at minimum my experiences have given you some perspective.

jamjdckr : First I respect what you said and I will try my best to answer that question to the best of my ability.

I have heard similar perspectives such as yours and they do make sense to me, and a renewed belief in religion has made many peoples lives take a positive turn. In that aspect religion has served a good purpose, but in my case I just have just not felt an outside influence in my personal struggles. I think most people turn to god in times of distress out of fear that their life might be coming to an end or to explain something that might be seen as a miracle. Whatever the case I hope it's positive for all who do make the turn and it usually is, I just don't see it in my future. At least from this post I can further my understanding of opposing views even if they don't work for me.

Singelli : First of all, I'm going to call complete Lies on the fact it was "boiling water", and assume it was just normal hot water that you'd get from turning on the sink.

Second, I just want to point out how absurdly STUPID it is to not do anything but hold your hands up in a dumb manner and hope someone gets better, rather than doing something actually USEFUL like calling the doctors or putting the hand in ice.

Third, Really hot water in the first place tends to leave no marks, unless you do something even more stupid that all that wishing, such as sticking your hand in the water as it was getting even more hot, and leaving it in there. Even then, it wouldn't cause something unbelievably awful, just burn marks and bad bumps.

Lastly, I would just like to say that this is why I find no hope left in the overly-religious groups. Begging an imaginary friend won't help you, but actually acting on the mistakes and making sure everything is actually fixed through and orderly procedure WILL help.
