The original Super Mario Brothers games were by far the best Mario series, I did enjoy some of the modern ones but I always go back to the originals at the end of the day.

I like the side-scrolling Mario games better because they're the first Mario games I've ever played and I really enjoy them. I like the 3-D platforming games too, but I find them to be very difficult and annoying sometimes. Side-scrolling games are a lot easier to beat.

What's the best Mario series in my opinion?, Well the best Mario series in my opinion is the Super Mario World spin-off in the franchise. I like the Super Mario World spin-off in the franchise because the worlds were very creative and diverse in settings and I enjoyed all the bonus top secret areas and star road and special road with in star world.

Although the Mario Galaxy games are great games, I still prefer the sidescrolling classic Mario. I feel that it is more fluent, as well as addicting. Some of the camera shots in the 3D games get irritating, but they are fixing that in the later games. Nonetheless, I love that classic Mario action, it can't be replaced.

My favourite is without a doubt in my mind, the RPGs. I've loved them ever since Paper Mario, and I can't honestly name a single one I don't like. It might just be my affinity with RPGs, though. Plus, Paper Mario was my first ever Mario game and I LOVED that thing to pieces

Personally I liked the old Mario games when he was on the original NES and my favorite of those was Super Mario bros. 3. But Mario was still just as good when he made the jump into the 3D world beginning with Mario 64 which made the series even better.

My favorite is probably the Mario and Luigi RPG games and the 3D Mario games.
A close second would be the Mario Kart series and the Mario Party series.
Those are really the only Mario series I actually seem to enjoy I could care less about the rest of the other series.

Mario 64 Has my vote it was one of the greatest  Launch titles for any Nintendo system.  Galaxy on the other hand I found it to be okay.  But mario 64 is my main reason.
