Recently I watched a few parts of The Devil Inside, a movie centered around Exorcism. It's supposedly a documentary, but there were definitely some scenes that were... chilling .

I watched through the part where they actually show an exorcism. God, that was freaky!

Whether or not you watched the movie, do you believe that it is possible for someone to be possessed?

If you have watched the movie please comment. I found this disconcerting to say the least.

I haven't watched the movie myself, but know that people can still get possessed because this hasn't changed since Jesus' time. There are deliverance ministries which are dedicated to this very thing and have freed many people from bondage. One thing to note though is that demonic possession / oppression isn't always as overtly gruesome like Hollywood portrays it to be. Some of the people can appear as regular functioning individuals at least outwardly.

I believe in demonic possession but I think it's far more complicated and subtle than it's usually portrayed to be.

I imagine the vast majority of demonic possession is subtle enough to be completely missed or manifests in something like murder, rape or other violent crimes and is simply thought to be those things.

I realize it's possible that human's are simply really screwed up people.... but I also think that there are some things too inhuman to be only human. If that made any sense

I kind of agree with geeo. If it is real, I don't think it would be anything like what you have seen in any exorcism movies. Those are just so blatantly obvious and what does that accomplish for the demon? I think it would be done in a way that very few people could come to the conclusion that possession was involved.

From a biblical standpoint, sure people can be possessed. In the bible Jesus does cast out demons. Some parts of these movies are indeed accurate. For instance a victim having extreme strength is common as well as speaking quite differently. Its kind of complicated.

In fact I was reading a news story yesterday of an apparent Cannibal attack somewhere in Miami, and demonic involvement was the first thing to register in my mind. I also think a persons behavior may have to do with the degree in which they have been taken over. My old pastor told me that they cast demons out of a young girl once who seemed to have totally lost her mind. She was clawing at the ground, and hissing in a very frightening way.

Overall I find exorcism to be nerve-racking and freaky, and I don't like to watch that kind of stuff. The ironic part that I used to watch an anime show called Blue Exorcist.

I didn't watched the movie you're talking about... But I heard about a few Exorcism stories where I live.

It's possible to be possessed is, If it used to happen in the Jesus times. It still can happen today. 

I never seen a possessed person or an exorcism in real life. But I'm sure they both exists.

But in order for somebody to be possessed, it has to be by their own free will, by their own consent. They have to knowingly reject God and all things good in the world, and firmly believe that the Devil can give them what they want. If you are watching a movie of exorcisms, keep in mind the fact that this could only be you if you CHOSE it to be you. As long as you keep God in your heart and keep a good sense of what is good and holy, nothing should ever harm your soul.
