I don't know why, but with all the updates and refinements to the Vizzed website I am beginning to find it harder and harder to navigate.

Albeit the changes are only slight, Vizzed Game room beta, beta games, new games, trial games? etc.

But it does not appear as polished as it used to be and I am finding, well I can't quite put my finger on it, but yes, less pleasurable each time I use it.

I liked the old layout, games, board, and the somewhat archaic retro cartoon room that was incomplete and had viewing limits, but I did use it and miss it, is it still around, I am getting lost.

I know people are voluntary giving up lots of their time to improve things, add screen shots etc. I wish I had the technical knowledge to help on this side of things, I don't. I am a passionate retro gamer, who played some of these games the first time round and love it for just that purpose.

What are your experiences?

As far as I can see there have been no real changes. The Retro Game Room has always been a buggy mess, the only difference is that now it's been combined with the Beta Video Game Room, which uses the same layout. Maybe you're just getting older and can see the difference between Vizzed and more modern sites...


As for the Toon Room, this was removed due to copyright violations the server it resided on (Megaupload) was facing. There are currently no plans to bring it back.

I have to say the video game room makes it confusing. It uses the exact same layout as the retro game room and that should not be. Frankly I have no need for the Video Gamer Room and will never use it. Maybe if it had another feel to it than the retro game room I would not be as depressed for not able to play the games shown on the Video Game Room...

The RGR does need a tune up as well. Like being able to see recently added, alphabetical, genre (we do have). Just to make searching easier.

I really see no change in the layout of Vizzed; which games are trial games?

For the most part, everything seems fine to me. The only thing that does kinda seem different is the layout stuff, but I'm not all that good with putting together a quality layout (I just use the regular layout thing) so it really doesn't affect me all that much.

Not many people will probably end up using the Video Game Room as it doesn't have games to play... it just game information. Most people are here mainly to play games.

As for the layout nothing has really changed but I disagree and think the layout / structure needs to remain the same as RGR. Well maybe layout can be changed but the structure should be the same or that would get really confusing.

One thing I find annoying is the name "Video Game Room". I think it should be something like "Modern Game Room" that contrasts well with "Retro Game Room". But "Video Game Room" is way too generic and new people might click on there to play games and might end up realizing there is no games there which could cause them to leave the site.

JigSaw : I agree with you that the name needs a change. New members or visitors need to know that it's not a page where they can play games. There is nothing telling them that.

I also think maybe the page can have a different color background or something to make it look somewhat different than the RGR.

Priority is that we need to make sure the visitors and new members know that it's not where you play games. I'm debating if we should bring david into this thread.

 Yup, I do. I remember David promising the retro layout, back when he made this site all Web 2.0. 

Davideo7 : Hey!  Not trying to bust your balls, but whatever happened to the retro theme/layout?

The site layout hasn't changed in many months, I'm not sure if you're just viewing it in an outdated browser suddenly or what. Also, the Retro Toon Room had to be taken down because megavideo got shut down by the FBI and all of the videos were hosted by megavideo.

Lazlo Falconi : Before you make rude comments, please explain yourself. How is the RGR a buggy mess?

RequiemHaunt : All of those features are present in the Retro Game Room. The Video Game Room will probably get its own look but it'll still use the same engine. It hasn't got its own look yet because it's in beta. Right now it needs more content before it can officially launch, it'd be silly to officially launch it if it's incomplete or has no content.

JigSaw : The Video Game Room isn't meant to please all the current users who use the Retro Game Room, it's basically meant to draw in a whole new audience. The only reason I didn't name it 'Modern Game Room' is because it contains games like Playstation and Dreamcast which aren't modern. It might still get a name change before it leaves its beta form.

No, I don't have trouble navigating the new layout, but I was never here for the old one. In fact I find it very easy to navigate, except for newbies, I love to help newbies learn how to navigate, that is fun. If a newbie came to this thread, they would go to town on it I bet . No I'm kidding, when I was brand-new to the site, I could navigate... ok. 

No I haven't had any problems with the layouts so far. I'm pretty contented with the layout so far.

I dont have any issues with new features except for the VGR.. The main index setup with all of the thumbnails looks unapealing,  I think a list form would work much better. 

Davideo7 : Sorry to bother you again, but there's also a problem that I've noticed with posts. Sometimes, when I go to post, it sort of freezes up and does not allow me to post. I usually have to reload/ refresh the page 2-3 times in order for me to post at times. I originally noticed this with my iPhone, but it has also happened with my laptop a couple of times as well.

I think he was using the second definition to refer to the thumbnails that mostly say "Image Coming Soon".

But if I understand him right, I do think I agree with him. I'd like to see it in list form, so we can see more games at one, and then have the screenshots on the games page. I know you said you plan to change the way it looks later, but do you have any idea how?

Davideo7 : A few years back when you unveiled the current layout, comet bar, Web 2.0 look and all, you said that you'd make the old look of Vizzed, the one before this one, available as an option. Again, I'm really not trying to bust your balls, you're a busy man. I'm just wondering what happened

soxfan849 : I do plan to change the game list in the video game room to display more games and display smaller and less pictures. As for the RGR, that'll stay the way it is since a lot of people using the RGR are looking for a fun game to play so offering as many graphics as possible is the best way for them to find a fun game to play, or to find a game they grew up playing but forgot the name of.

Rasenganfan2 : Yeah I still plan to do that as a "mobile" layout. A lot has happened on the site since than, many attacks, lots of security work, etc. That just hasn't been a high enough priority but I really do hope I can get to that before the year ends but that isn't a promise.
