For me it was Borderlands, DmC and Metal Gear Rising. Borderlands was hyped to high heaven by a lot of game reviewers and gamers. When I finally played it, turned out to be a major snooze fest, even playing online. As a Devil May Cry fan, I took DmC as it was which is a reboot. Sadly after beating it, seems that turned out to be an average hack and slash game. Finally, there's Rising. All I have to say is that I shouldn't have never been fed into the hype. It was so boring and mediocre that I traded it in the second day after it was released.

I agree, though not just MW3 in my opinion the only games in the Call of Duty  franchise that deserved their hype were COD4, MW2 and the original Call of Duty.
The rest in my opinion are average at best.

CALL OF DUTY! its the same thing over and over again

The most overrated game ever made was the Bubsy series, they were known for backgrounds, but gameplay? it is like the n64 is god or even titan.

It was made by acclaim because they wanted a mascot who could compete with mario and sonic A.K. A. Bubsy. now i am not saying bubsy is worthless but the first bubsy game was a float game. Sure the background was ok, but the land would disappear like you moved the camera. The first gumball machine you encouter as a checkpoint, NOT! gumball machines destroy you, you take falling damge, and you can be sent back to the beginning over again and again

Call of duty. It might just be because I am terrible at it, but I really don't like that series. My friends always talk about it, and I really don't see what is so awesome about it.

What video games that are completely overrated, mostly any modern First-Person-Shooters, especially Call of Duty. 

Personally I'd have to say the entire COD & Modern Warfare series... I mean come on, it's nothing but the same thing over and over again... just with a few new weapons and some more maps... like whoop-dee-doo, be original...

Even though I like the game, battlefield.
Everyone starts saying it's so realistic, but it is not.
Like how do you get shot in the leg and jump perfectly.
Also just because of the graphics does not mean it is realistic.

COD.
It is simply loved by everyone in my school.
But not me and a couple of people.
So basically almost every kid in the world likes it and says it is the "best" while skyrim, pokemon, dragon ball Z games and naruto games beat it by 100 times.

I would have to say COD series for sure along with MOST (not all) First-person shooters, and Assassin's Creed 3 ruined the series (the one's before 3 were good) and yet it got all these great reviews. WOW has also gotten way worse yet it seems to just keep getting more popular, anyways I have a lot more games, but whatever. 

dracomaster : That's pretty much how I am, I don't like Most First-persom shooters, although I do like the early Doom games, which is a pretty good game, but others, especially modern ones like Call of Duty, Halo, Gears of War, those kinds of games, I don't flat-out like. 

Call of Duty has definitely been overrated. Unfortunately, so is Assassin's Creed 3. The CoD series is overrated because it's a military FPS sequel to a sequel where not much has changed at all. AC3 is overrated because the focus of the game somehow shifted from "stabbing people" to "Farmville."

I think it is battlefield 3. I honestly don't like the game. All you do is just shoot and kill and thats it. I don't even see how this is fun. Same with call of duty.

In my personal opinion, I would have to say the most over-rated, over-hyped video game of all time would have to be Final Fantasy 7. Yes, I can agree that it is a great game, a great story, and all that jazz. But they just need to lay it to rest and stop milking it for more money. I won't lie that I enjoyed watching Advent Children, even though I don't really see the point of it. I was never interested in Dirge of Cerebus despite Vincent being my second favorite character. And I will not lie, Crisis Core was one of the most fun games I have ever played. But its rumored that they're making an Advent Children 2 and they already have so much on Final Fantasy 7. But the reason why I say it is over-rated is because people hype it up way too much and they've already changed Cloud Strife's original personality, I'd rather not see them screw up another character.

The first one that comes to mind for me is True Crime: Streets of L.A.
It's supposed to be a PlayStation 2 classic. It's so overrated if you ask me.



Bland visuals, even for its time; the vehicle controls and physics are very bizarre and awkward; it has a very one-sided soundtrack which can be customized, but I didn't figure out how to and there aren't that many options to begin with. So, customizing songs is way too complicated; and the hand-to-hand combat, OH MAN, the hand-to-hand combat... 

It's not as bad as it's sequel, but at least that's recognized as a flawed game. The amount of praise True Crime: Streets of L.A. got is a mystery to me.

Pokémon Dark Rising on Vizzed. All freaking newbie friends of mine have their destination on that game. That game is nonsense.
