The version we had been using on the site was outdated and had some other problems with it that I can't speak of publicly, so I removed it and eventually replaced it with this new one today.

As you can see, I gave it a new scheme and it also has a few new features. It should also be more stable and should continue working even if the site goes down (since I'm no longer hosting it on the vizzed.com server but instead I'm hosting it on a different server). If it seems laggy, I can see about making adjustments.

The version of cometchat that we have is the 'Professional' cometchat bar as seen here:

Before we had the 'Basic' version and it was outdated by at least a year.

Edit: They also have a desktop version of the chat which basically lets you use the cometchat bar on your computer like an instant messenger like MSN, Skype or AIM (and it works on all operating systems). I'm still debating on whether to get it or not, the 2 reasons why I wouldn't would be 1. it taking traffic away from vizzed since users wouldn't need to come to the site to talk with their vizzed friends and 2. it costs $200. I noticed this new bar at the bottom of the screen about an hour ago and was going to ask about it. It kept informing me that tRIUNE was online and offline as well as a few others. It confused me at first, but I caught on. I don't use chat often (hardly ever), but I know that a lot of chat room regulars are going to like this.

rcarter2 : Yeah and I actually use it pretty often too when I need to contact a staff member or when a staff member needs to contact me (usually for emergencies). I use this way more than the chat room.

Are there any differences in functionality between this one and the last one we've had?

Someone70 : It runs better, there's a few small tweaks here and there and there's a few small new features. The biggest new feature is the ability to talk with people on facebook or gtalk right from vizzed.

I have already used it to chat with a few people, have not tried the facebook feature, I probably will momentarily. Nice upgrade, David!

Wow this is pretty nifty! Keep it david. It's perfect. Although I may have problems with it piping up in random places.

As most of you Vizzed users know, the chat bar has returned back to
Vizzed. The great event is that it's been upgraded with plenty of other
features. Well, I've been enjoying all the games and chatting on the
chat bar. The color has changed to purple. Plus, I know how to change my
status. I'm extremely glad the chat bar has returned. I have more
Vizzed friends. This is better since I've gained friends online Vizzed.

The new chat bar is very nice. I'm glad the chat bar is back!

I made some adjustments to the cometchat bar. Tried making the chat window and the users list window taller. Only problem is, once you start talking in a chat window, the height goes back to how it was, I don't know how to fix this.

I'm impressed David . The old one was a little bit out dated, and the new one looks crisp and new and smells like new shoes, and well yeah you get the point. Thanks.

CarBitGTSaxen : There are a few new features, I mentioned them in my post. Also it's not necessarily about new features, it's about better security and more stability. The new chat bar overall runs a lot better.

SilverMaestro : That's more evidence that vizzed receives more updates than most other sites lol.
