Sunflower seeds are generally something I'd eat when I have nothing else to eat, really. I like them, they taste alright, but I would put a good list of things I'd rather eat than Sunflower seeds. Doesn't matter how, I eat them both ways.

I go both ways. But it really depends. I honestly don't think I've eaten sunflower seeds since I played baseball in high school. It's just not one of those foods that you eat everyday. And without a baseball field (or anywhere outside, really) to spit the shells onto it's not very practical to eat them with the shells.

And to all the other shell eaters, you have probably experienced this right? But if you don't eat the shell, it loses salt, and flavor. Oh why not suck on the shell then? Again because it loses flavor. I hate when the shell gets stuck in my teeth though.

Without the shell makes it loose the good taste that makes them good to have. I can eat it with the shell off, but I prefer it on, but I just think when it is on, it has a good salty taste to it that gives it the good flavor.

If it's a quick snack and they are the plain salted ones then it's shell-on, most of the other flavors I can't stand so they get shelled (and occasionally rinsed) before eating. If the seeds are going in a salad/recipe of some sort then it's always shell-less.
