What is everyones thoughts on a Thread Rating system?  At the moment the only two ways of really telling a good thread from a bad thread is usually the reply count as upposed to the view count, and the user's reputation who created the thread.  It could be as simple as a star rating 1-5, or something like just a star for a decent thread with a abreviation for the type of thread eg. Serious=S  Fun=F  etc..

I think the simple star rating would be great, doesnt even have to be stars... could be V's.

I like the idea of rating threads like we can rate users by giving trust points; therefore, I suggest that rating thread should be limited in a fashion similar to rating users. That way the good threads get better ratings from users who have more-reliable opinions. Limit it to Trusted and above, but place limits within this to prevent abuse.

Basing voting on threads on the trusted system will not work well. Almost everyone is trusted the trust system is kinda broken in some peoples views. Right now you become trusted if you make some friends on this site that are trusted. It's really easy to become trusted.

So voting on threads using trusted and up doesn't really mean much. Threads will be easily voted up or if someone doesn't like someone else they can vote the thread into a grave. Anyway right now you get experiance for how good your posts and threads are. So I really think that is a good enough reward for making good threads.

If we can fix the trust system to really mean your trusted then maybe some time we can think about a thread voting system.

I do like the idea of a rating system as long as it doesn't get abused the way the thumb system did. With that, someone found a glitch and voted David down into negatives.

I like the idea of rating threads, and i dont think many people would rate based on if they liked the person, so it would be outweighed by normal decent members.
Not that i would neccessarily be influenced by a threads rating, i trust my view on it more than other peoples obviously.

Between getting Viz for having people reply to your threads, and the actual trust point system, I think it's kinda redundant having so many "Rating" systems. It seems like one or the other would work well enough, and since the site pretty much revolves around Viz....it's probably best to just keep it the way it is.

I like the idea of rating threads. However, you should not be able to give or get trusted points for it, nor receive Viz for it. Maybe staff points for the Mods, and leave it at maybe 3 to 5 a day, but that's it. I think it is an interesting idea. But then again, it is up to David. Let's see what he thinks.

I actually do have plans on doing this eventually but based on my current to do list for the site, it probably wont happen for another 6 or so months.
