I've been looking around for any sort of retro game here that I haven't really played before. Anything that popular back then I haven't tried or something that's underrated that I've never heard of.

So I ask of the community to put together a playlist of sorts of what they suggest may be a bit up my alley.

I'm looking for something of the RPG variety, but there's also platform, some puzzle, and a little shooter.

Really, I'm an all around type person, so any game could please. However, I enjoy more games with a good story.

I'll edit this post with all games suggested and played/in process of playing.

Thank you very much in advance.~

Fire Emblem games are my personal favorite. They are turn-based RPGs. There aren't really any games to compare the gameplay to.

If you have access to a Gamecube, I would suggest starting with Fire Emblem: Path of Radiance. That one is my personal favorite by far. If not, you should probably start with Fire Emblem 7: Blazing Sword (first game officially released in english). You can find it here in the RGR-

https://www.vizzed.com/play/fire-emblem-gba-online-game-boy-advance-9933-game

It is one of the more thorough games of the series. The game that came after that one (Sacred Stones) is a lot easier which takes away from the strategy of the game. Most of why Sacred Stones is easier is because after a certain amount of time, there are bonus levels that you can go to as often as you want to easily level up. If you train enough, then you can just breeze through the whole game without using any strategy. Taking strategy out of a strategy game sort of ruins the game.

There's plenty of cool games out there, but one game would be the REAL Super Mario Bros 2. The game that was never released in the US. The lost levels in other words. Its pretty fun I gotta say.

Ooo... Nice choices everyone. I'll add each respectfully to the list. Although it's much preferred if you suggest games that I can have easier access to, mostly games I can find here. But I'll still give 'em a try in the future when I have the money for them.

Thus far from here:

Secret of Evermore is something you may want to try out. It take a bit to get used to the Alchemy system (magic), but the game is easy to play. It plays just like Secret of Mana in that you run around and attack in real time. While it may not have an epic story, the character does make a bunch of references to (fake) old movies in a humorous manner. Plus, some of the music is really good. There are remixes on places like OCR that sound amazing.

I don't know if you're a fan or not but:
Gameboy Advance SP:
Megaman 1-5 are all amazing games. I've actually never finished any of them due to time and whatnot.
