Without a doubt sushi is my favorite food I used to spend 100's of dollars going out to sushi bars. Then me and my girlfriend started getting it from a grocery store which was a bit cheaper and easier now I make it at home. It started out as a special deal but now we have it twice a month. I have gotten really good at making it thanks to experience and recipe's online. I order special ingredients online but am able to get tuna and seaweed wraps here in town so we usually order online once in a while. I love the squid and giant clam as well as octopus the most frustrating thing I cant get in town is ma sago which are the flying fish eggs. They are my favorite thing to add in my sushi and I cant get them locally so my question is what are your all's opinion of sushi and if you like it why and where do you eat it and why do you choose to eat it there.. I love Sushi if done right. I don't make it at home that often, I usually just go to a few restaurants that are really good near my house.

I haven't eaten any sushis in my life but as I love Asian food, yes I think it's ok for me. Also, I really want to learn how to make them, that would be cool

I actually am one of the people who has tried good-quality sushi from an authentic Japanese restaurant and I really hated it. (And I don't mean I hate raw fish, I mean I dislike the actual sushi rolls.) I've tried california rolls from three different places, really hoping I could enjoy sushi since some people seem to be so in to it.

But on all three occassions when I tried it, I gagged. It's one of the only foods I've tried that made me gag. The filling is good and the flavor is pretty mild. But the rice is cold pasty, and tastes like weird vinegar; the seaweed wrapper is the worst part. It feels like a long, wet, cold strip of rubber that I can't chew through. The gross texture of the sushi sticks in the back of my throat and that's what triggers my gag reflex.

Sorry to rain on your parade, I just don't like sushi!

My dad loves it and he regularly makes it at home with crab meat. We have a rule in our house: No fish eggs. They are so tiny and sticky, they get stuck to everything in the sink, and on the counter... it's pretty disgusting. I've never eaten them and I don't plan to, but they are a huge pain in the butt to clean off the sink.

Its no problem not everyone likes every food and sushi is one food that people usually love or hate I love it that you did try to sample it from different places and different styles most people just say that they hate it and have never tried it. The reason that the rice tastes like it does is mixed into the rice is rice vinegar, sugar and salt as well as being a certain kind of rice which is much higher in starch than normal rice (by the way the myth of birds exploding from eating rice at weddings is a myth birds eat rice from fields whenever they come in contact with them and never come to harm so if anyone tells them otherwise tell them to contact a rice farmer and ask how many blown up birds they find in there fields LOL) . The seaweed does turn some people off because it can stick to the roof of your mouth.  I do have to say though that the California roll is one of the tamest sushi it contains no raw fish. Its usually made with imitation crab meat which is either cod or Pollock (of course there is usually a real crab option for double the price) avocado and cucumber of course since its the rice and seaweed that is the problem while there are many types that do not use seaweed all sushi has rice its actually how sushi came into being the rice and vinegar were used to preserve raw fish in ancient times. However since your a cutie I suppose we can give you a pass on not liking sushi LOL. : :giggle:

I've never tried sushi, but, to be honest, the thought of eating raw fish is repulsive. I'm not really big on fish anyways...Im from Oklahoma. We love our beef...MOOO

I've not had much a problem with sushi whether it be pre-made, homemade, or fresh from a restaurant. I've never been a big fan of the Cali roll. I've always liked the shrimp, veggie, and avocado.

Funny story, when I went to NYC a while back, I was dared to try a whole roll of sushi with a tablespoon of Wasabi. It was terrible and good! My face turned so red xD

Right now I work at a grocery store that has an authentic sushi bar. They use and prepare fresh sushi of all kinds every day, they also make some amazing dumplings!

I once tried sushi around a local buffet restaurant around here.

Unfortunately the seaweed makes me gag up. I can eat most of the other parts, but seaweed is bleeech to me.

I actually have not tried sushi before, but from looking at it I can tell I probably would not like it.

But who knows, I might try it one day and like it.

It's pretty good i tried it this year actually it wasn't the first time i had taste it. I ate it at 4 different Asian's restaurants while living in Las Vegas

I've had sushi a few times and for me it's kinda hit and miss,

Sometimes I enjoy it a lot, and other times it's disgusting,

Of course it depends on where you go to get said sushi. But generically I do like it, but it's not a food I plan on eating regularly.

It does annoy me when people say they don't like sushi and haven't at least tried it a couple of times... but hey it's a free world xD

Oh I love all sorts of sushi except the spicy ones. I usually drench mine in soy sauce or plum sauce~ The place were I get my fix is usually at the store since no resturante sells them.

I have to be honest I've tried wasabi and ginger on my sushi and I sort of like wasabi but not ginger. I just can't stand ginger! (Ginger is the pink stuff).

Note most buffet places only sell vegi sushi which is GROSS! It's like eating plastic even the rice is plastic like! Blarg Always ask if the sushi is real or vegi.

Unagi (eel) is my favorite.Ive thought about trying to make it at home since it can get pretty expensive,but have yet to try.My gf also told me that its up to me because girls have a harder time being that they have warmer hands....I think it might just be a ploy to get me to cook more

I used to not like Sushi, mainly because it didn't SOUND that appetizing when I first started learning about it as a kid. Even the first time I tried it, I didn't love it.

Over the years though, I have grown to LOVE certain kinds of Sushi. I eat it at least a couple of times a month.
