In my school, all seniors are allowed to leave last period 2 minutes early.  Apparently, teachers are finding out that underclass students are getting out early too, so they decided to not let us have that anymore.  I hate the underclass students.  The reason why we have this is because there would not be any jams in the hallways.  Now it is just chaotic.  We have made a petition about having it back and we are hoping to get that back.  Do you think that we should still have the "2-Minute" rule for seniors?

Well, exactly how many students go to your school? That is a factor in it for me. Regardless, it seems that the teachers should be monitoring who leaves their classroom 2 minutes before. It is not hard to remember which of your students are seniors and who has no business leaving 2 minutes early. Sounds more like a staff problem for not stopping all non seniors from leaving the classroom.

thenumberone : I am actually very confused by your sentence. What do you mean "senior aren't people in the last few years"? I'm not sure if you are talking about seniors as in old people or high school seniors . Clarify what you mean and what you are confused with please?

How are the underclassmen getting out with the seniors? Don't they not know who are seniors and who aren't?

I can understand why they took it away, and the only way to fix that problem is to check whether or not a student actually is a senior.

It's not like two minutes really make much of a difference, anyways. You can't say it's more chaotic because you were in that when you weren't a senior.

It's annoying when you get punished for something that someone else did, though.

thenumberone : Oh, I see. I can clear that up. Here, high school is your last 4 years of public school (grades 9-12). 9th graders are called Freshman, 10th graders are called Sophomores, 11th graders are called Juniors, and 12th graders are called Seniors. I forgot that not everywhere has that system

rcarter2 : there are only 4 years of highschool? here primary is 7, secondary 6.

Heres my main point of confusion, the descriptions here make it seem like seniors share classes with there juniors, is this because there juniors are at the same level as those seniors? Here that can only happen in the final (6th)year, e.g s5 and s6 can be studying a 'higher' together.
Edit: and since i know (more or less) understand in theory its a good idea but when half your class is gone the lessons essentialy over so theyd not be doing anything. In my highschool teachers werent supposed to let people out early but most overlooked that for the final year. Its not massively important.

thenumberone : Yeah, his is a breakdown of the public school system here. There is Elementary school, which is kindergarten and 1st-6th grade. Some cities/towns have a 5th and 6th grade center, but they are still classified as Elementary. Then there is Junior High, which is 7th and 8th grade. Last, there is high school, which is 9-12th grade. Some smaller towns don't have junior high schools and just have high school 7th-12th, but that is more rare.
Anyway, as far as different high school years mixing classes, it happens all the time. Most high schools have a variety of elective classes that you can take at any time (unless they have pre-requisite courses that need to be taken first). So in a lot of elective classes, you can have a wide mix of freshman, sophomores, juniors, and seniors. It is the mandatory classes like math (geometry, Algebra II, Trigonometry), English (English I, II, III), etc. that are usually specific to what grade you take it.

Only 2 minutes? Before the seniors got their privilege taken away, they got 15 minutes at my school!
AS for your situation, if the hallways are as chaotic as you say they are, I guess asking for the privilege back wouldn't hurt at all.

rcarter2 : one final q.
Is junior high seperate from both? As in a seperate campus? Because it seems by having 3 different buildings for each persons education, that it would be a drain on an already underfunded public sector.

rcarter2 : I do not even know.  I am not the one to keep up about that.
pi0x : I am thinking that it is the classes that has multiple grade level students in one class and they would not care about it and just let everyone out.

Someone70 : In my freshman year, the seniors would be allowed to get out 5 minutes early.  Now it is not fair for us to have 0 minutes because of the underclass students.

thenumberone : it depends on the town/city. Smaller cities with a smaller student body tend to just have junior high and high school in the same building/campus. Mine, on the other hand were separate. Actually we had two different junior high buildings and everyone went to one big high school. The main purpose of it is because 7th grade is a puberty age, so it really is best to have them separate from younger kids. But for a lot of places (like my hometown) mixing middle school and high school would be way too much. My high school was over 2000 students when I went there, and it is still increasing. Adding an extra 1400 students in one school campus would be insane to work with. But it isn't always such a drain on the funding. It is for some (mainly smaller towns). But my hometown is a descent sized middle sized city, and the buildings are pretty nice and full of extra curricular activities. As a matter of fact, the 3 building high school is now too small for the growing student body, so that will soon be the new middle school, and they are in the process of building an even bigger high school.

That's pretty awesome! We don't have any sort of two minute rule, just leave with the others.

I think you should have it, get out before all the halls are crowded.

In high school we had something similar... but only for honor level students, or those who were of exemplery character.

It was a reward system. If you were a top tier student, you got let out early.

I got let out early too... but for other reasons. I was on the school "newspaper" as well as the "Yearbook Committee" and the Cross Country team. I can't remember how few classes I was in all the time.

Only Honor kids in senior grade got to leave early. They were given half days if they had a job and passed the SAT the previous year. (Most kids take the SAT in 12th grade but some smarter kids can take it in 11th grade.) We never had time for leaving class a few minutes early before the other students. Though it would of been nice when we had the school add on. Hehe only having 5 minutes to get to your class was impossible. The teacher eventually understood if you were late. The school was just too big to make it to class in 5 minutes! I remember I'd just have to lug all my books on my back and not use my locker. You had no time to switch your books. >.> I hope they changed that rule I heard the school got even bigger two years ago... Those poor souls!
