I was wondering if it was possible for somebody to make a series of simple videos that could inform users on several things about the Vizzed Board. Below is a list of potential topics.

Navigate the Vizzed Board.
Make a Post / Make a Thread (Dos and Don'ts could go in here as well as how to introduce themselves in the Newbie Forum.)
Send a Private Message.
How to use the chat rooms.

The above list could be extended for other important topics and also include an explanation of the boards rules (Dos and Don'ts) as well. The reason I am suggesting this pretty simple yet two-fold. 1) I would imagine that most people who find Vizzed in the first place enjoy watching videos on Youtube more than reading instructions on the same subject, so why not make some Youtube videos to cater to such tastes? 2) I think this could get more interested in posting on the Vizzed Board in the first place. Some people may just not be coming to the Vizzed Board because they do not know what this is about or what to do in here; and I can personally say that I became more and more interested in the Vizzed Board the more I understood how to utilize it.

If this were feasible, I could try to make them myself unless it should be a staff member to do so. If these were made, I would say they should be stickied in one thread in the Newbie Forum. Comments? Questions?

I have made one in depth post previously regarding how to edit profile settings and post layout with screen shots attached to the post, but am having trouble finding it. Instructional videos are a great idea.

I feel like instructional videos would be going a bit too far, but maybe screenshots of how to do certain things would be useful.

Of course, if somebody really wanted to, they could make those videos. It'd make our job of dealing with noobs easier, at least. x3

Someone70 : Screenshots could be another way to explain such things to newer users, but the idea behind making instructional videos is to cater to the interests of those who do not like to read quite so much as others. I believe that by doing so we can get more people to introduce themselves and possibly have them discover how much fun it actually can be to participate on the Vizzed Board --as I said, I personally would not have become so involved in the Vizzed Board if I had never introduced myself when I first signed up.

Now even though I do believe in the use of videos, I would image some people may use utilize screenshots instead.

I wonder, maybe I should make 1 instructional video as a way to demonstrate the idea before going any further? Maybe make this video on the topic of introducing oneself in the Newbie forum?

Screenshots wont work too well in most cases, they are really only good at pointing things out but some things need a lot more explaining.

If anything I think that needs to be a new staff position, we need a video staff who will make videos or tutorials for vizzed which can help people do things on site.

Davideo7 : What do you think of adding a video staff position? Since this is a gaming community I think it lacks one big thing and that is use of multimedia that should be the next step up.

I actually do plan to make an "introduction" video for vizzed, probably something like a 5 minute video which briefly goes over the features of vizzed, the rules, etc. I do plan to do it eventually, just not sure when yet.

Hmm... This is actually a very good idea! Maybe I'll try to whip something up some time.

Hey guys.. Agreed some clear instructions would be nice quick and simple especially if one already has trouble navigating or reading about posting threads and board navigation.

 
I'm sorry to do this but I just signed up so I'm still a newbie and can only post 1 thread a day, I posted and "introduction" threat in the newbie forum and now I can't post another today but my question is kind of urgent.

This is in regards to Viz earned via birthday.

Kind of disappointing that my birthday is on the 27th of this month (February) I turn 21.
I stumbled upon this wonderful site a few days ago but only registered today,  being just under a month membership. It seems I wont be receiving my award.

Which is obvious considering the capital "MUST" in the rules.

Was just wondering if a favor were available.

Psymonn : I'm fairly certain that the Viz you receive on your birthday is automated, but don't worry. 5000 Viz Points may seem like a lot right now, but it's really easy to earn more than enough Viz Points to use the Retro Game Room and the Chat every day. You get 100 Viz just for logging in each day, so you only need to come to Vizzed Boards 50 days to make up for it!

It is a shame that you have to wait, but this system is put in place to prevent abuse.

I think it is a great idea!It shouldn't be really long though.I know David said 5 minutes.I also like the idea for screenshots,maybe David could go with both screenshots and videos

Well, I made a video. I know the audio is kind of messed up, but this is by no means a final product, I was just wondering if anyone had any comments on what I'm saying, or if I should show off some other things. Lazlo Falconi : From my perspective, that is an excellent video with only two things would need to be corrected. 1) Your voice becomes very hard to hear at 2:17-2:26. 2) You said that new users can make only one post per day. In actuality, Newbies can make as many posts as they want but they are only allowed one thread per day.

AuraBlaze : Yeah, I know about the audio issues, and how it jitters toward the end for some reason. I was looking for things I over looked, like saying only one post instead of one thread. Thanks for the input!

Davideo7 : Why is that? I have no problem signing a talent release if you're worried about legal repercussions. Granted it's your site but I just thought to take some work off your plate.

Lazlo Falconi : Because I know more about the site than anyone, if anyone else were to put it together, they might not include everything that I think would be important to include. Plus I'd add commentary and it'd be professional if I was the one "welcoming" the user to the site.
