Nobody else did either, until now.

2K games and Sony have stated that MLB2K12 may as well be the final PS2 game ever produced, ending the systems 12 year life span.

This will also be the last MLB2K game to be made.

Out of all games to officially end the PS2's lifespan, why MLB2K12? It's just a sports game, which is pretty much the same as all of the previous entries. Not something I will be getting.

Anyway, even though it is a sports game I think it is a testament to the quality the PS2 had. When it was first released it was state-of-the-art having quality graphics, DVD player, and online capabilities. While everything does end eventually, a 12-year life span is phenomenal for any console --unless these people did it for the attention.

I was aware, and didn't much care for the games coming out which were mostly movie-based or sports games. I guess it's a fitting end. I am glad I bought a PS2 slim so I can still play PS2 games in the future if I should choose to. R.I.P. our phat model: it died of over use and age. ..

I never would of guessed they still made PS2 games, I haven't even seen a PS2 for probably 4 years.

Not sure exactly how they can profit by selling a new game for 20$, but I assume it is just a port of the PS3 version with lowered resolutions and textures.

I think that they stopped making PS2 games cause I have not heard anything commercials about it yet.  Why would they make a 2012 baseball game on a PS2 console than a PS3 console? It just does not make sense.

Not to be a know-it-all, but sony did make an announcement that production and support would continue until all game development has ceased. Since games still make money, they still make the games. If we get lucky, the legendary PS2 will go until...... maybe 2014?
