Which in your opinion is better, Windows or Mac? Which would you rather have?
There can be many things that may determine your answer. Price, Available tools, what you plan to use it for (casual use, development, etc), Gaming, etc. Try to give an intellectual reason for the choice you pick. Windows. By far. Windows is the most widely used OS around. Sure, with Mac switching to intel processors lets you run bootcamp to run windows/mac os's.. but then why would you want to run a mac..
Sure, there great for video/picture editing.. But apparently you only notice the difference if your into extreme editing, for like real ad's, profesional looking videos, billboard quality images... and <1% of the world wide computer usage is doing that, so personaly, I dont see any reasons why to change to any other OS. PC hands down.
Mac's may have a slight edge when it comes to video editing and size, but PC's are compatable with damn near everything. They are affordable. Most people know how to work them. I sit down infront of a Mac and am totally lost. Now I know why old people hate technology Furthermore I was trying to do some graphic arts crap on a mac and I went to go copy and image from a webpage.... and there was NO RIGHT MOUSE BUTTON(as i am sure you already know). Which wizzed me off to no end... long story short, after messing around for 10 minutes trying to copy the image, I quit. Here are my 5 reasons why a PC is better:
1. Mac's are insanely over priced and you get crap for what you pay for them. A mac that costs $2500, you could easily get a PC which is more powerful for $1200. 2. PC's are better for people who are into programming and developing. PC's are meant for stuff like developing software and you can't do .NET development on a Mac (not that I know of anyway). 3. As John said, Compatibiliy. Seems like nothing works on a Mac while everything works on Windows. 4. Most businesses use a windows. Which also means more job opportunities with windows development. 5. Since almost everyone uses a PC, you can send someone files that also has a PC and not worry about them not being able to view it or use it. Here are my 1 reason why Mac might be better: 1. Well, of course most people on here are gonna say PC cause they have been on one their whole life lol. I can tell you right now I would rather have no computer then a PC. LOL jk but that's how opposed I am of owning one.
I have had 3 computers fail on me over the years that's why I moved on to mac. Macs are definatly HARDCORE!!! I took a bat to my first one, not cause it sucked but cause I was insane in the membrain a few years back. Anyway, I have never turned this one off EVER. It has been on since I got it and has had no problems what so ever. No crashing & no waiting long hours for virus software crap. It's hands down better in every way, shape, and form. With PC's you can't leave them on for months at a time but with Mac's you can leave them on for years at a time and I have proved that. Mac's are not over priced, they are priced extremely well. You have to consider all the technology that comes with a Mac before saying it's over priced. Yes there is a right click button... you just need a mouse with a right click button that's all. Before saying Mac is garbage just sit back at take a look at what they have created over the years. They are basically paving the way for future technology. Sure Microsoft has tons more programs but stuff is now coming together with programs such as VMware (think that's what it's called) which lets you run both Mac and PC applications side by side without rebooting. As of right now... This Mac has been through hell. I push it to the limits all the time, got tons of crap open at once and not once has it failed or crashed on me. That's why I have a mac! In fact this computer has lasted longer then the lives of 3 previous pc's combined together and that is no joke. But we all have our opinions... I'm just saying for a person like me a Mac is a perfect fit and I'm sure David can back me up when I say I leave my computer on 24/7 Long rant... Both are good and both have advantages/disadvantages over one another. Just depends on who you are, what you do with computers, and stuff. I do alot of silly things to my computer, and thats why it crashes. Since I stoped doing them, i've never had it crash since then. But on that note, i've never had a problem so bad i couldnt fix myself.
If your doing things to your computer which can kill it, and your not skilled enough to do it, maybe you shouldnt be doing it. That said, windows has an underlying problem with some software. If you install windows, and dont install anything else on it, it'll never crash. well, mac is generally more user friendly in design and mobility. They developed that early on, while it took windows several version to make it user friendly.
On the other hand, windows tends to be more secure and functionality. Windows has concrete functions that help the user finish or start a simple task. Windows has a better GUI system for support applications. Macs are generally for music and movies, or media entertainment. WING On the other hand, windows tends to be more secure and functionality. The Mac isn't as user friendly as windows. Besides not all games are compatible with Mac, it's harder to hack and such with it, and it seems more self-contained. I don't like them, they seem to take the fun out of everything even though they are nice computers. |

Before Windows 7 came out, I would've said Mac. However, Windows 7 is the evolution of Windows. I can't entirely say for sure, as I haven't been able to use a lot of time with Macs, but as of now, I'd have to say Windows. |

Well since I have windows 7 and Mac, I say Mac still wins still. Sure windows 7 has some nice features but they are also pretty annoying. 1 being the browser windows, try and move it past your screen and it bounces back I hate it (that is if your mouse touches the end).
Another annoying feature is the invisible windows at times all the windows disappear. Few good features of windows 7 though is the ability to change opacity on window borders, view the application from the taskbar minimized in a thumbnail, and their screen capture is also ok but not as good as mac. Mainly just appearance features... another thing that is highly annoying was the computer hides files had to change some setting in order to view them all. I like macs structure a lot better, wins is good too but too much focus went into appearance. Their slogan "Your PC, simplified" is overly hyped I find that a complete lie lol Just not a fan of how they got things structured that is main issue I don't like with windows but still good Another annoying feature is the invisible windows at times all the windows disappear. Windows, because...
Oh, where was that article that I read a few days ago... oh, there it is... I'll type it up.. 1. Windows is more customizable Change the desktop theme – including wallpaper, taskbar, window styles and fonts – to anything you like. Try doing that on a Mac. 2. Windows is more compatible Let’s face it – practically all software and peripherals out there support Windows. (Though the Mac is getting better all the time in this regard.) 3. Choose your own hardware With Windows you’re not tied into one manufacturer with a limited product range like you are with Mac OS (Psystar notwithstanding). On a budget? Any cheap clone will run Windows. Want something that exactly matches your lifestyle or situation? The range of PC options is huge so you’re bound to find something that suits. 4. Better keyboard shortcuts You can access any menu option in a Windows app with 2 or 3 keystrokes, and they’re the same standard keystrokes on any Windows PC. With Mac apps you’re limited to the shortcuts chosen by the app developer. (You can add your own shortcuts on a per-app basis, but then you have to remember which shortcuts you’ve added for each app. And what happens if you get a new Mac, or use a friend’s? You have to redo all your shortcuts again!) Furthermore, you can access pretty much all controls in any Windows dialog or window via the keyboard. Mac OS lets you turn on so-called “full keyboard accessâ€, but there are still many things you can’t do with the keyboard (try moving from the Calendars pane to the Day/Week/Month View pane in iCal, for example, or activating the all-important Scan button in Image Capture). 5. Sensible use of navigation keys I know I’ve been over this before, and it’s largely a “personal taste†thing, but after nearly 3 years of using the Mac I still can’t get my head around using the finger-twisting Command-Left Arrow to go the beginning of a line, and Command-Right Arrow to go the end of the line. Not to mention the Home, End, Page Up and Page Down keys that scroll without moving the cursor. Arrrgh. Windows uses these keys much more sensibly in my opinion. 6. More useful file manager Finder can’t cut and paste files or give you a 2-pane tree view of your files and folders. Windows Explorer can, and jolly useful these functions are, too. 7. More flexible open/save dialogs Speaking of file management, Windows open and save dialogs let you rename and delete files and folders; add new files and folders; open a selected file in another app for viewing/editing; open a selected folder in Windows Explorer; and manipulate image files: Mac’s open/save dialogs merely let you select a file and create a new folder. Not nearly as useful. 8. Much bigger range of games I’d love to play a lot of games on my Mac, but sadly there just isn’t the range that there is for Windows. And when you do get a game for the Mac, it’s often a second-rate port of the Windows version. 9. Easier to get help There are many more Windows users than Mac users. If you get stuck with your Windows PC, chances are you know someone round the corner (or their kid!) who can help you fix it. With a Mac, you might be struggling. 10. Windows Media Center does more than Front Row Media Center lets you watch and record live TV and/or radio (with a suitable card), and you can do a lot more thanks to plugins. It also works with a mouse if you want it to. Can’t do any of things with Front Row (the Apple Remote is nice though). Phew... Well that sums it up! WINDOWS IS BETTER THAN MACS!!!! Septembern, don't believe everything you read from articles
"Change the desktop theme – including wallpaper, taskbar, window styles and fonts – to anything you like. Try doing that on a Mac." You can do that on a mac, only thing I can't do is change window styles but keep in mind I'm on a 6 year old mac. Firefox allows you to change browser themes. "Windows is more compatible" Of course it is since most software is made for PC "Choose your own hardware" Don't know lot about hardware so no comment. "Better keyboard shortcuts" I don't think so. Mac has tons of great keyboard shortcuts. Middle click for example brings up calculator, phone book, canendar, clock, etc... It also has sound keys which pc doesn't seem to have. Guess it depends on the keyboard you got. There are more great shortcuts which required no altering. "Sensible use of navigation keys" I guess this guy doesn't know about the enter key? Hotkeys are nice but this guy sounds lazy as hell "More useful file manager" Is this guy drunk? Mac has multiple styles for file browsing. Mac owns in file browsing that is one of the reasons why I like it so much "More flexible open/save dialogs" Again this guy is full of it, you can do the same exact thing on mac. He makes it sound like you can do a dam thing on it. What a crock. "Much bigger range of games" That is obvious "Easier to get help" Just because more people own PC doesn't mean you will get easier or more help. This guy again is full of it. Macs have a great help center. For all the problems I've had on a mac I was able to find easily on the net. "Windows Media Center does more than Front Row" Never used them so I don't care for them --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- That sums it up, not to believe everything you read from articles "Change the desktop theme – including wallpaper, taskbar, window styles and fonts – to anything you like. People who think windows is better are like people who think King Cole is the best tea. It's a cheep poor excuse for tea that they grew up on, and that is only reason they like it: they grew up on it.
If someone likes King Cole tea better just because they honestly prefer the taste, that's fine. But someone who tries to argue that it's a better quality and better tea in general is ignorant.
