The Tour de Vizzed is finally here and like the VCS, this is an event that lasts 1 month. Unlike the VCS, this will only take place once every 3 months.

Each day there will be 4 Jerseys you can compete for:
Yellow Jersey: Most words in a day
Blue Jersey: Most posts in a day
Red Jersey: Biggest post in a day
Green Jersey: Most posts in an hour

If you get 1st place in a Jersey for a day, you get to "wear" that Jersey the following day. To "wear" it means that the background of your username will have a unique background graphic. Only the top 5 places of each Jersey gets points, 1st gets 5 and 5th gets 1. Whoever has the most points for any Jersey at the end of the competition gets to wear that Jersey for the entire next month. If you have more than 1 jersey, your jersey receives stripes for each jersey color you own.

Along with Jerseys are Badges that change your username color. They basically represent who has the most points total:
Rainbow Badge: Whoever has the most points so far in the competition
White Badge: New member who has the most points so far in the competition (anyone who has signed up in the past 3 months)

I see it's finally here.

I also see I have the "polka dot jacket".

I assume I also got the Yellow jacket, but for some reason, polka dot is taking priority.

Yay a new contest, and this sounds better than the VCS, actually.
I think the jersey thing is a really cool addition, and honestly that alone will make me want to get off my lazy butt and participate, and hopefully win at least one thing .

Something for some motivation! I'll admit I slacked off posting in Decemeber, and just VCS wasn't enough to get me posting. This sounds great. Different, more involving and creative, better for users who make great quality posts and are lacking in post count because of it.

David- Is it possible to add a leaderboard for daily words or post exp somewhere? So I can see where I am in the competition and how much more I need to go.

Yeah something similar to the VCS page, so you can see how you're stacking up to others each day. That'd be pretty cool.

I, too, am rather jelly of dk and leggy. I can't help but think that my username is more of a polka dot kind of name though. xP

Oh, and do reviews count toward the biggest post in a day? I would assume they do, and I might have to draft out some 1500 word reviews to post in the next couple of days, lol.

As far as I am aware, they count for word TOTAL, but not for the biggest post in a day.

When I wrote yesterday's review, (over 1000 words) and checked the leaderboard for longest post, I was winning with about 460 or so words.

That's disappointing about them not counting toward biggest post, but they probably do make a pretty significant impact toward most words in a day. One good review would probably lock up the day.

And, noooo, don't hide the leaderboards. I'm a very competitive person by nature, and I want to be able to call 'scoreboard' on people, haha.

Hmm... I just had a thought. Wouldn't the person who wrote the longest post likely be the one to also have the most words for the day? Especially if it was an active user going for most words with a single post, like leggy or tj.

Could you make it so that if a user wins in two categories, then the second place for one of them would wear the jersey? It sounds a bit complicated, and I know that it's a goal to win in multiple categories, but the polka dot jersey isn't going to see the light of day much like this.

Well, honestly, if reviews don't count, then I think the polka dot jersey could get plenty of love. Assuming somewhere around 1000-2000 words or so would be a win for most words in a day, then I don't think it should be too much of a problem. Because other than reviews, there aren't going to be a lot of threads where you will be making 500 word posts, bar blogs and such (which are usually only updated once a day anyway).

It'd be a cool feature nonetheless, so you've always got four people in jerseys.

I'm not a fan of the chicken pox jersey so if I win it... guess I'm stuck with it Why did you choose polkadot anyway? Do they have those in tour de france? What would be cool is like an animated one with flames for one of the jerseys.

Yeah in the Tour de France, the Polkadot Jersey is for whoever gets to the top of the mountains first.

I removed the Polkadot Jersey and made it the Red Jersey.  I also made it so that if you own more than 1 jersey, your jersey become striped with each color you own.
