Yeah, when I play Mario Jump, if I go too high, it acts like I fell in a hole, and I lose a life. Also, might want to note that however high you go, you have to drop that far. So when you reach the flag, you can end up waiting quite a while to reach that flag (not that it matters score wise since the timer doesn't start again until you reach a certain point.
