I kinda just flipped through Jonah a bit. It had messages like you can't hide from God and don't get caught up in your own self-righteousness. I have to read it a couple more times to get the full "scope" of it.

I am Catholic and Moslom. I don't read the bible, but may you explain some information about it, tRIUNE? I've read passages inside school about how the Earth was created and some ancient legends included inside the bible.

ProGamer135 : Question (honest sincere question): How can you be both Catholic and Muslim (or Moslem)? If a MiddleEastern legit Muslim heard that you were both, he'd probably send an assassin after you...or something to that scenario.

jzrozzn8706 : My father was Catholic, which makes me half Catholic, and my mother is Moslom, which makes me half Moslom, too. My father had passed away six month I was given birth to by my mother, so I had never met him as a human. I take a gander at him included inside photos. When he had passed away, my mother had been pregnant with me, already.

I read some of Revelations this morning. I am an antagonist, meaning that I do not believe in Christ, but I do believe that there is a god of some kind. I read the Left Behind Series in it's entirety, and it really interesting. So, since then I have been studying Revelations whenever I can. And I must say, it is quite interesting. I might even post my personal findings and report here when I get done with it.

I agree with thenumberone. Religion is not genetic. You have a choice to make. Will you be a Catholic Christian? Or will you be a Moslom who defy the very foundation of Christianity?

thing1 : That's good that you find some of it pretty interesting. I have read through the Revelation of John many times but I still cannot form a legitimate view that fully gets the idea of all the symbolism. Also, Tim Lahaye does have some pretty cool books, including the Left Behind series.

I did a bit of reading from the book of Ephesians which is always an edifying read. It spoke mostly about everyone having a position in the body of Christ and how we as believers should work together for unity because we're all one in Jesus.

I haven't had the chance to read from my Bible today, but recently I've been reading in the chapter of 2 Kings.  I've been reading about King Hezekiah, actually.  Before Hezekiah came to the throne, there was a long line of men who had not served the Lord and done some very evil things.  From what I've read so far, most of the prior kings were assassinated for their position, so it amazes me that each person who took over thought the trend of killing kings would not affect them!  This, to me, speaks a great deal of those men's pride and arrogance.  Obviously, they either coveted the position or thought they could do a better job than the king before them.  Something had to tell them, as well, that they would not follow that line of kings who had been killed.  When you think of those men's disposition in this light, it speaks of the conditions of their hearts.  These men had so little interest in serving God that they had even shut up the temple of God.

Hezekiah tried to restore what he could of a religion based on God.  He called the Levite priests to come back and cleanse the temple and commanded his people to come and hold a Passover feast.  He destroyed idols and altars built for false gods and tried to teach his people to live the right way.  He even fought the oppression of the Assyrian king, who was forcing everyone to pay taxes by refusing to pay them, building up the walls of Jerusalem, and then gathering up an army.  However, his army was so small compared to Assyria's.  Assyria's army came closer and closer to Jerusalem, taking out many cities along its way.  Hezekiah began to feel fear, and he sent a notice to the king of Assyria, promising to pay the taxes.  The king of Assyria, however, was so greedy that he demanded an even heavier tax, and Hezekiah sent out gold and silver from his people and from the temple of the Lord to pay it.  This did not appease the heathen king's greed, so he warned Hezekiah by saying he would take the people of Judah just as he had taken the rest of Israel, and that their gods had not saved them, so Hezekiah's God would not save the people of Judah.

Hezekiah took the letter to the temple and implored before the Lord, praying for help in his time of need.  He sent a few princes to visit the prophet Isaiah, and Isaiah prophesied that the King of Assyria would not shoot one arrow against Jerusalem, and that he would return home whence he would be killed by sword.  That night, God's word became truth.  The whole Assyrian army fell sick over night, and the morning most Assyrian soldiers were dead.  The leaders left alive and the king of Assyria fled back home, and years later two of the heathen king's sons killed him.

Later, Hezekiah became sick and was told via Isaiah that he would die, and to be ready to leave this world.  It made Hezekiah ill at heart to think of leaving his people, so he pleaded with God not to die.  God heard him and gave him 15 more years to his life.  As a sign of God's promise, the shadow of sundial was moved backwards by ten degrees.  Hezekiah was healed and lived for 15 more years.  He became a very wealthy man and when he died, the whole of Judah mourned his death.

How awesome is God to us?  Reading the story of Hezekiah reminded me of how diligently God heeds our prayers if we will but follow His will.  God had already decided it was time for Hezekiah to die, but when Hezekiah pleaded for more years, God rewarded him for his faith.  I know that sometimes people have a hard time keeping their faith, but they need to be reminded that God does reward those of us who keep in His ways.

I read from a few sections.  First Job.  Job basically teaches us patiences.  I believe that if we are more like Job and trust God and never curse Him and wait on Him to act, we'd be perfect.
Second was Psalms.  I have to read Psalm for my church bible study.  In the Psalms there are just too many lessons to post.  In any verse or book there are just too many lessons.
Last I read The Revealation.  I read this book all the time.  I think it's important to understand the dynamics of what we are dealing with when judgement day comes.  Or for just any day in life.  We must be prepared.
I don't mean to sound preachy but We have to do what God tells us to do because time is winding up.

Today my bible reading ventured from 2 Kings 3 through 2 Kings 6.  (I probably should mention that I only have confidence in the Kings James Version of the bible.  Other 'bibles', I feel, tend to add or subtract from God's Word...something no one should ever do!) I especially enjoyed chapter six, in which the king of Syria decided to war against Israel.  The king sends horses, chariots, and many men to surround the city in which Elisha the prophet abides.  His servant is frightened by their predicament, but Elisha tells him not to be afraid, and he prays to God.  In his prayer, he asks God to open the eyes of the servant so that he may see how God is on their side.  If you know the story, you know that which the young man sees: horses and chariots of fire filling the mountain around them.  Can you imagine beholding such a sight?  I think there are many times when we can be sore afraid, and we forget that God is capable of placing his hedge of protection about us.

The story continues as the army starts down the mountain and Elisha prays that God will smite the assaulters with blindness.  One man's eyes are opened, and a whole army's vision is stripped from them by the sheer awesomeness of God's grace and power!  Don't you know that God can do even the same for us?  He can blind our enemies in the midst of turmoil so that we can be safe from harm.  It is God's desire that His children be safe and remain steadfast in the faith that He will keep us safe.

I love what happens at the end of chapter six as well.  Elisha convinces his enemies to follow him and they oblige.  He leads them right into Samaria, where the king of Israel has the upper hand.  The king asks if he should smite his enemies, but Elisha tells him no.  He tells him instead to feed them and give them water, and then send them home to Syria.

Can you conceive of such grace?  Here, the king has his enemies drove into his very town, stricken with blindness.  When their sight was restored, they were most likely confounded, furious, and very frightened.  Their state of minds would have made them easy targets for a complete victory for Israel.  However, Elisha tells the king to give them sustenance and return them home. Jesus gave us such grace.  In return, we are to show such mercy to our own enemies.  Matthew 5: 46-48 even advises us to love our enemies.  Why?  Loving someone who has caused us affliction or pain is a terribly hard thing to do, and yet Christ commands it.  The reason for these instructions is simple:  I can imagine no better way to share the love of Christ.  Like the armies of Syria, we can confound our enemies by simply showing them that we love them despite the troubles they may have caused us.  In this waywe are able to witness what Christ so desperately wants every person to have: His love.

Love your enemy and be a witness for Christ.  Be genuine about it and in this way you might obtain victory and God's favor. I had much more in mind to say about the passages I read today, but time is escaping me.
Be blessed!

I especially enjoyed chapter six, in which the king of Syria decided to war against Israel.

Be blessed!

Today I read the 1 Kings. I was reading about the Divided Kingdoms. I found it interesting that God would work through even the evil king Ahab to teach Ben-Hadad that the God of Israel was not just a god of the hills, God rules over all the earth.

thing1, when you get done with the Revelation, you should read the book of John. There are some things in there that are important for a good understanding of some of the images in Revelation.
