When I first purchased my Pokémon white game, I was all hyped because of all of the new Pokémon I was going to encounter. Going into the dream yard, next to Straiton City, I found the person that gives you one of the three elemental monkeys. I had oshawatt and the person offered me this Pokémon named Pansear. Just playing the game for the first time, I didn't know what Pansear looked like or even what type of Pokémon it was, so I just accepted the free Pokémon. I went to see the summary of my new Pokémon and I was psyched out...I mean isn't pansear just the same as chimchar...? -___- couldn't the producers come up with something a little more...you know unique? Does anyone else feel like the three elemental monkeys were just a sort of filler for lost thoughts?

Are you liking the game so far?

Anyways, I happen to like the 3 elemental monkeys. My favorite is Pansage because of it's Grass type...I adore Psychic and Grass Pokemon.

I agree with you though, Yoshi...they are basically the same, 2 fire breathing monkeys.

For the record, Chimchar is much cuter.

I guess they wanted the three "starter" types in some trio that weren't starters. But I guess they weren't thinking ahead when they thought of monkeys and they got to the Fire type. xD

I say Chimchar's better, because he's fire and fighting, and he evolves twice.

Pansear is lame, and you never actually need to use him to beat the game.

(all you need is Emboar, Vanniluxe, Sawk, Unfezant, Zebstrika, and Krookodile.)

Infernape does not look like Simisear.

I don think it matters that they look similar in their base forms. One eventually becomes powerful and useful, and the other stays sucky. So there is a difference, in stats, in type upon evolution, in moves, in abilities, in everything.

Chimchar is better, no ifs, ands or buts. He's stronger, got better moves, also happens to be that much rarer because he's a starter pokemon, has 3 evolutions, has a stronger final evolution than pansear, also happens to turn into a fire and fighting type pokemon.

However, this idea failed considering they made Pansear, and the other 2, incredibly weak. In fact, the only useful thing Pansear does is help in the first Gym, since he incinerates the berry. That right there is the most useful thing my Pansear ever did for me, AND becoming an HM slave
