I feel we need more chat mods. Mods come in more often but I feel we need more with all the seriously immature and trolls coming in chat lately. So I think we should have some chat mods while they aren't locals on the forum. I'd recommend trusted members with 30+ TP and Elites. But yeah, this is what I think should be done and we can control chat with more chat mods.

I kinda like it. Even though there are a lot of locals right now, we can't always be around to fix problems. But there is no way I'd want every person with 30 TP/ every elite to be a chat mod. You'd have to be picked. Maybe open some applications, let 2-3 new people to be mods.

TP is just a popularity game. I don't think that those numbers alone would make you more eligible to monitor the chat.

Maybe we could have a few locals who are in charge of just the chat room, so they can spend some more time looking at it.

Also, those of us that are already in there, we'll try to be a bit more strict in there. Let others know that too. ;3

I disagree with your idea.

The problem with more chat mods is the selection of people left. The majority of people let power even if it's superficial go to their head.

Example? Me over a year ago. A year ago, when I first became a local, I let power go to my head, and I'm a generally level headed person. After some time I became a lot better at it. Now I am not the same mod I was a year ago.

If there's a problem in chat, report it, and press the handy dandy ignore button. It's a beautiful beautiful thing. A local, or global if it's an emergency, will be in to handle it.

30 TP - TP are popularity points. Doesn't mean they can do the job.

Elites - The majority of these are inactive... so you wouldn't see all that much difference in all honesty.

The TP thing was just a idea until I figured something else that's better out, I remembered TP doesn't really determine much after I posted that. And now that I think about it, a lot of elites are inactive.

We could also assign all the locals to rooms like the forum. We could assign them all to General Chat and give each local another room to check the logs of every once and a while. (I mean the locals that go in chat frequently)

This idea has been suggested before, and nothing has ever come of it more than bickering.
I'm against it for reasons said in previous threads.

It has been, but now it actually seems like a legit idea to me for the following reasons.

1. People complain about chat too much. Having mods in there MIGHT fix that.
2. It would free up a few forums so more mods could meet quota. :3

They will get less forums (1 or 2), but they will be tasked with keeping a REALLY close eye on chat.

The idea is to prevent problems in chat, and as such make the site better as a whole.

Maybe in the future we will hire chat mods separate from locals... but for now, only locals are able to apply.
