From here on out here are the new rules for layouts:

- No remote hosted pictures nor remote links leading to other sites
- No pictures above 200kb's in file size will be allowed in your layouts
- Layouts cannot exceed 200kb's in total
- Layouts with broken table / divider / formatting tags will be deleted if not corrected
- Any layout in layout shop that does not preview correctly will be removed from shop by mods
- Global mods and above have the power to remove your layouts from shop and also have the power to delete your current layout as well as ban you from the entire layout center

You can upload photos for your layouts by going to the: photo upload page

This is my layout that complies with the rules.

I actually kind of agree with these rules. They seem fair, except I think 75kb could be a little bigger, but it's not my decision.

I also had to remove all my layouts for sale, they were way too big lol.

legacyme3 : You would have to ask david on that one. Many people use multiple pictures in their layouts so if the average person is using say 100 - 200kb per picture you would be loading close to 1mb for each page.

legacyme3 : The problem is, some people have 2 or even 3 BGs in their layout so at 100 KB each, that's 300 KB, way to much in my opinion, especially if multiple people on the same page have a similar situation, the bandwidth usage adds up to the MBs in no time.

Make the most you can have on the layout period 200kb or something.

It's relatively minor, but it's pretty hard to make an image that is already 150 kb look half decent at 75kb quality. Surprisingly there's a huge difference between that and 100kb quality.

legacyme3 : I do like that idea, as long as all of the images within the layout are under 200 KB, that'd be fine (and if the layout only has 1 image, than there's no reason the BG couldn't be 200 KB).  It's just a matter of if JigSaw is willing to update it to make this possible.

I think in general it will make layout making easier, and we will have better quality on site instead of half-assed attempts to make a decent picture look crappy, just to use it.
