I currently do not play OSU. I never have and I do not really see the appeal of it. The game looks like Elite Beat Agents on the DS. AM I correct in saying this? So I wanted to ask the fans why they play it and what makes it fun to them. -------------------- |

It gives me something to do, and the hard beatmaps are fun to do, they give you challenges.

Um, it's based off EBA.
I play because it is addicting and fun. And it has really opened my mind to a lot of types of music I wouldn't normally listen to.

I played osu! before because it was probably my only source of music for my eyes instead of my deaf ears. It was a nice thing for me, something I can use to relate on music.
Without it, I have zero understanding of music. I have zero understanding why people is addicted to music. Maybe osu! doesn't cover this, but it's a break-through in my eyes, for people that is in the same situation as I am currently in, that is. I believe there's a quote that applies to this. 'Better than nothing.'

Actually, the game is based off of EBA and Elite Beat Agents, plus some Japanese(?) drum game.

tj4bigred : Not all of the Rock and Punk music is "obscure." In my library there is Dragonforce, Paramore, Skillet --maybe obscure to others here--, and OK Go just to name a few. You are correct that most of the music for osu! is anime.
I listen to a lot of music. I loved playing Dance Dance Revolution, and osu! feels like DDR for my fingers; however, what keeps me playing this is the fact that I now know people --only over Vizzed-- who play it and give me competition.

billythekidmonster- Well I do have to use the keyboard for Catch the Beat, but I use a combination of the keyboard and mouse for standard mode. You see, clicking on the hit circle and such is a hassle. Instead I just use the mouse to point at the them and press the Z or X buttons. It is much easier that way.
