mourinhosgum : G&W still isn't on the official website, not even the Japanese website. I think that in the Pac-Man announcement they were just trying to show that G&W was one of the very first gaming characters and came before Mario.

But I am way hyped for Pac-Man. I'm not even that big of a fan of Pac-Man, but he looks like he'll be a great character in SSB4. Of what we've seen in the trailer, he looks fast and somewhat strong, but his special moveset looks like it might be a little hard to learn. I simply cannot wait to try him out!

Lucina - A clone of Marth. Yay, our first clone confirmed (not including Mario/Luigi)! She seems like the opposite of Roy. Roy was a stronger, slower clone of Marth. Lucina is going to be faster and most likely weaker clone.

Robin - Seems very unique. Robin uses spell tomes until he/she (there is an alternate female costume) runs out of tomes. Robin then uses his/her lightning sword. Pretty cool, eh?

Captain Falcon - Our beloved F-ZERO racer returns! He has a brand new design too! Blue eyes, big ugly nose, creepy ugly thin teeth... He really likes to show his teeth this time around. Just look at his page on the official website! Most of the pictures show his teeth. But hey, who cares about his design? The Captain is back!

Never liked him in Melee, and he's not that good in Project M, but... He's Mewtwo. The one and only Mewtwo, one of the most famous Pokemon of all time. Probably more people know Mewtwo than Charizard. <33333

I now absolutely love the Wii U version of the game because of the Amiibo compatibility and all of the new modes that were not in Brawl, such as Master and Crazy Orders, Target Blast, and a lot of awesome new characters, like Mega Man and Robin. I have heard though that if Head Developer Masahiro Sakurai's work load does not go down, he will retire from being a game developer, which might kill off or make the Super Smash Bros. Series bad. I am looking forward to Mewtwo though because I have both the Smash Wii U and 3DS Club Nintendo codes already registered.

Well i have both Wii U and 3DS versions, I have heard that Mewtwo and Lucas were confirmed as DLC Characters, that is awesome, I can't wait for it, i also have Amiibo Characters Mario, Luigi, and Link, I might get the Yoshi one though, Because I love Yoshi, I am so glad that Mega Man is in the game, and Pac-Man is in it too, and Sonic returns also, I kinda like the 8 Player Smash and so on.

I sold my Super Smash Bros that game was very boring and disappointing

Not meaning to bump a thread that hasn't seen a post in 2 1/2 years. But........

Unless you have been living under a rock (or a vivid Sony/Microsoft/Steam fanboy), you have heard for the past couple of month that Nintendo is releasing a new Super Smash Bros game on the Nintendo Switch (IGN link) that will release in late 2018 (but more likely it might be pushed into 2019).

It's hard telling on what Nintendo is going to call this new Smash game, and if it's going to be a Super Smash Bros. 4 remaster or a brand new Super Smash Bros. 5 game. But all we know that this coming June 12th, 2018 at E3, Nintendo will release another Direct where half of the video will demonstrate on Super Smash Bros. on the Switch.

What are your thoughts on Super Smash Bros on the Switch?

IgorBird122 : Seeing the naming pattern, it should be Super Smash Bros. Rumble. After Melee and Brawl, I can't really think of any similar word besides Rumble. Or maybe take some inspiration from Driver 3, which was released as Driv3r, but I think the current generation is more than done with LEET language.

I don't think it's a remaster, given how much time it's been on the works. It would be rather disappointing to see that Nintendo has barely released any brand new Mario or Mario-related game for the Switch in 1 1/2 years besides the main title Odyssey, their mascot deserves much more than that and even more in a console where Nintendo has gone all in.

The game has a lot of potential, and let's hope Nintendo actually handles it well. They'd also need to handle it masterly to confirm themselves as better than the competition, given how pissed the Namco and Square Enix fans have been in the last 2 years with how badly they've handled their projects and Sony just barely trying to regain the top by revisiting their old series like God of War.

I hope the game doesn't introduce many new mechanics all of a sudden. I didn't get to play Smash 4, but up until that game the progress of the mechanics was gradual enough to allow experienced and new players alike to enjoy their game and they shouldn't change that. A too complicated Smash 5 could drive away a fair-to-decent percentage of potential players, and I'd be one of them now that I'm considering a return after so many years out of the Nintendo environment.

It's going to be fun to see the guest characters appearing in the game. Back when Sonic and Snake debuted the world was in awe, and given the hype the game has built it's pretty much likely they'll surprise us again for the best. I already have my picks, because dreaming is free, but I'll be patient and wait for the leaks.

EX Palen : Kinda like how Super Smash Bros. 4 was called "Sm4sh", and if that's the case, we will see 5mash. Also, I agree that it won't be a Super Smash Bros. 4 remaster because if it was, it would of been one of the Nintendo Switch launch titles and that didn't happened, so a remaster is out of the question.


Plus depending on how the Nintendo's E3 Direct plays out on June 12th, we might be in for a treat. We finally get to see the playable characters announced, stages announced, and a lot of other things.

I'm sooo looking forward to the upcoming smash bros title!! I believe it's a brand new game, because like you said, if it were a remaster then it would have been already released with Mario Kart 8 Deluxe for example. I hope this time they include a story mode, just like they did with Brawl (and it was really fun btw). And hopefully we will get some cool characters, like Dixie Kong for example. We will get new info in less than a month now!

The game is officially called "Super Smash Bros Ultimate"

Nintendo has confirmed that every single fighter from the past 4 Smash games (64, Melee, Brawl, and Smash 4) are in the game (which includes Ice Climbers, Pokemon Trainer, Snake (yes, Snake)), every single Stage in the past 4 Smash games (with a couple of new stages).. 2 new characters which is the Inklinings, and..... (this character that literally made hell freeze over).... Ridley..


The game will first start out with the original 12 (Mario, Luigi, Donkey Kong, Link, Samus, Yoshi, Kirby, Fox, Pikachu, Jigglypuff, Caption Falcon, and Ness), and you have to unlock the rest of the roster throughout the entire game.

The new Smash was just a bomb. I don't think the name could be more fitting, though it sounds more like the last Smash game (let's hope not and it just means it's a collection of past and present).

It brings good memories to see players from Melee and Brawl back in action. Hitting in the nostalgia is another weapon out of the countless ones this game has to conquer our hearts with. This game will surely be the pinnacle of Switch, putting a high standard for Pokémon to surpass with their upcoming game next year.

Local Moderators : As much as the subject is relevant today, may we please close this 7 & 1/2 year old thread? I think we ought to have a new thread for the new Smash Bros. game.
