Anyways, Since March 2018, Nintendo has announced that we will be getting a new entry to the Super Smash Bros by airing a teaser at the end of the March 8th's Nintendo Direct, and then released a detailed footage with gameplay, fighters, stages, and everything during the June 12's Nintendo Direct.

The game is called "Super Smash Bros Ultimate", which is the 5th installment in the Smash Series (64, Melee, Brawl, 3DS/Wii-U, and then Ultimate).

Nintendo has confirmed that every single fighter from the past 4 Smash games (64, Melee, Brawl, and Smash 4) are in the game (which includes Ice Climbers, Pokemon Trainer, Snake (yes, Snake)), with 3 new characters joining the roster.. This will make a total of 66 fighters which is 8 more characters than we seen with Super Smash Bros 3DS/Wii-U (The 57 from 3DS/Wii-U (all except for Charizard) plus Young Link, Wolf, Pichu, Pokemon Trainer (who will have Squirtle. Ivysaur, and Charizard), Ice ClimbersSnakeDaisyInklings, and Ridley).

Plus, 3 of the fighters are known as an Echo Fighter, these fighters are basically clones to another similar character, these characters are Daisy (Echo of Peach), Lucina (Echo of Marth), and Dark Pit (Echo of Pit), and I think to get these Echo Fighters, you have to unlock the original character to also get it's Echo Fighter as well.

So far, Nintendo has confirmed 82 stages (either described in detailed during the Direct, visualized during the fighters cut scenes, or during the E3 gameplays), and 43 stages yet to be determinant, which means we could have a total of 82 stages to as many as 125 stages (which is a whole lot), and to put it into comparison, 3DS/Wii-U had 84 stages (both released and DLCs).

The game is going to start out with the original 12 (Mario, Luigi, Donkey Kong, Link, Samus, Yoshi, Kirby, Fox, Pikachu, Jigglypuff, Caption Falcon, and Ness), and you have to unlock the rest of the roster throughout the game.

Super Smash Bros. Ultimate will be released Worldwide on December 7th, 2018, which will be the first time ever that a Super Smash game will be released Worldwide on the same day, and this will also be released in time for Super Smash Bro's 20th Anniversary.

Anything north of 100 stages is actually mandatory, otherwise the name Ultimate will be defiled.

While they've already showcased brand new stages, I'd love to know the full list of returning ones. Big Blue is going to be a nice addition, and personally I'd recover Poke Floats to add a bit of unpredictability, specially in 8-player brawls. I should work a bit more my memory and see what other stages from Melee and Brawl, the two I've ever owned, would be nice to see added.

I also love the addition of Bomberman as Assist Trophy. These small cameos are always welcome, specially from someone we all know and love in this place. Also, the Fake Smash Ball is an strategic twist to the game, we'll have to see how different it really is from the real one to guess if it can fool anyone (and thank God they changed DK's Final Smash, it was awful as hell, and I wish Luigi could have his improved a bit, if it didn't get any upgrade after Brawl).

I am really hyped for this game, even though I still have no plans for a Switch at home. Depending on how things go in real life maybe I could end up getting it, but the chances are slim. Still, a game like this will surely stay out for a long while, giving me enough time to sort everything out.

EX Palen : I can see at least 100 stages as well (like 110-122 stages). After looking at the Super Smash Bros Wiki page, the 43 stages that are yet to be determinate, 6 of them would be copies (like we have 4 Battlefields and 4 Final Destinations), and I know that Nintendo won't have 4 stages designed the same exact way, so I can see those 6 being cut.

That would lead 119 stages (if the rest are confirmed), but I know that Nintendo will also release a couple more stages, like they already have a new Legend of Zelda stage (Great Plateau Tower), a new Mario stage (New Donk City), and a new Splatoon stage (Moray Towers), I know Nintendo should release another Pokemon stage from the Alola region, and another stage or two. which would top out my 122 stages.

Better try and get the Switch as soon as you can, because by the time Super Smash Bros Ultimate is released, it will be nearly impossible to get the Nintendo Switch, because with both the popularity of SSB Ultimate, and the Holiday season.

Some people are calling this Smash 4.5. But Zero (possibly the greatest Smash 4 player) has played it and championed it as a near-flawless game. Essentially, he compared it to Melee and possibly considers this game better than that. Such praise is not given lightly.

Smash Ultimate has been tweaked to appeal to competitive players more. There are tech that was never present in any game of Smash until now, that will appeal deeply to competitive players. Perfect shields, grab counters, and more! These are excellent additions that further distinguish it from any Smash game. It's going to be awesome.

And Link's arrows can now be picked up. And in addition, if Link picks up an arrow, he can shoot two arrows at once. Awesome!

Other characters have been tweaked significantly, like Zelda and Pokemon Trainer. It's gon' be great.

Well, as of late, Sakurai has stated that not all stages is going to be in Super Smash Bros Ultimate, which means they will be some cut stages. We all know that the confirmed 84 stages is safe, but 1 stage has been officially cut (Flat Zone) the rest of the 40 stages could be at risk of getting the cut.

Like I said, I know I see the Melee, Brawl, and Smash 4's Battlefield and Melee, Brawl, and Smash 4's Final Destination is going to get the cut without a shadow of a doubt because what's the point of having 4 stages that are designed the same.

On top of Flat Zone getting the cut, I also see Flat Zone 2 getting cut as well in order for Flat Zone X to be introduced in Ultimate. The other stages I see getting the cut is Pictochat and Pictochat 2, and probably merge them both together into one bigger Pictochat stage

As for the other 37 stages, I personally believe that these stages will more in likely be safe from getting the dreaded cut, we probally might find out in the coming months before Ultimate is released, more in likely by the next Nintendo Direct, whenever that will be.

The idea of having every character adds so many more possible ways to play and is going to take so many extra hours to fully experience everything.

The funny thing is, even though there's every character, I know that soon enough most fand will find something to complain about like how everyone was complaining about certain characters not making the cut before.

zanderlex : Just like how many of those people complain "Not everyone is in the roster, what about Waluigi?" And the funny thing is that this is going to be everyone's gripe about Super Smash Bros Ultimate.

I know that they will have a couple of DLCs in the future, that all depends on the Switch's hardware capabilities though..

Anyways, recently, Sakurai has stated that we are returning back to a more Melee formula mostly because Sakurai stated that the only reason why a lot of fans, especially the competitive fans preferred Melee over Brawl and Smash 4 is because Melee was more of a fast pace game while Brawl was more of a slower tempo in order to gain newer fan towards the series and also the popularity of the Wii at the time of Brawl's release, and Smash 4 was because of the whole 3DS limitations which was carried over onto the Wii-U.

Basically to sum it up, Melee basically alienated all of the Casual Smashers out there, and Brawl/Smash 4 alienated all of the Competitive Smashers out there, so Sakurai found a way to make Ultimate enjoyable for both Casual Smashers and Competitive Smashers and let both sides be happy which is a good move, which means hopefully we don't have a whole lot of people say "I miss Melee", although they will be a couple that will still say that.

I am preordering 2 copies, one for me, and one for my little brother for his Christmas. I hoenstly don't like fighters, because I suck at them. However, there is something about Smash that is just innocent fun.

I really hope there is some kind of "story" or campaign to this, as I feel it would add a lot to the game. Also, the board game from Sm4sh in Ultimate would be very appreciated.

thing1 : I have been a fan of the fighting genre for quite awhile, with Street Fighter II being my first Fighting game, but yeah, the entire Super Smash Bros series has something for both Casual fans and Competitive fans, although Sakurai focused more on Competitive fans on Melee and Casual fans on Brawl, and having a mixture of the two on Ultimate would satisfy both sides.

Also, I hope to see an Adventure mode return to Ultimate like we had on Brawl like the Subspace Emissary we seen in Brawl.

I know this is a double post, but I want to get this out, and I wanted to post this after TdV ended.

Anyways, Nintendo has just announced the 85th stage to be confirmed for Super Smash Bros Ultimate, and that is
Delfina Plaza from Super Mario Sunshine, and this got me thinking about the chances of the remaining stages, Well, I will go each one that is still yet to be determined (from 64 - 3DS/Wii-U and from best chance - worst chance). But note, these are just clearly by my opinion, so, don't take any of these percentages to heart, because I could end up getting this all wrong.

Smash 64 stages chances returning in Ultimate:

Kongo Jungle (64) = 95% chance (Made it)
Peach's Castle = 95% chance (Made it)
Mushroom Kingdom (64) = 45% chance (Made it)
Planet Zebes = 25% chance
Sector Z = 5% chance

Melee stages chances returning in Ultimate:

Poke Floats = 95% chance
Yoshi's Island = 95% chance (Made it)

Rumble Falls = 60% chance

Picto Chat = 0.00001% chance
Battlefield (Brawl) = 0.000001% chance

Final Destination (Brawl) = 0.000001% chance

Battlefield (3DS) = 0.000001% chance
Miiverse = 0.0000001% chance

-------

Also, based on some rumors I have heard, Nintendo will be releasing another Nintendo Direct sometime this month (or early next month), and it's going to be a Super Smash Bros exclusive Direct, and this is where we will officially know all of the stages that will be battled in Ultimate, and all of the game modes that we will experience with.

-----------

Edited after the Super Smash Bros exclusive Nintendo Direct on August 8th, 2018:

Note, I have crossed out and debolded every stage that has been cut, and "(Made it)" when a stage is in Ultimate.

Some of them I am quite shocked that got cut like Poke Floats which I originally predicted that it had a 95% chance of returning, but others I'm surprised that they returned like Hanenbow which I only seen an 1% chance of returning.
I know this is a double post, but I want to get this out, and I wanted to post this after TdV ended.

I think this thread's got some new life in the form of the DLC fighters. After all, of the 6 we've had confirmed that we are getting, only Piranha Plant and Joker are announced, which are already extremely hype as it is, Joker especially. However, I think it's time I lay out some actual predictions for Smash's next 4 DLC fighters. However, I have to give more than 4, and give percentages like Igor did on the last post, since I know that there's characters that are likely, and characters that I just want in there that have little to no chance of getting into Smash as it is. Anyway, here's my predictions:

Crash Bandicoot: 90% Chance -
I think Crash has a significant chance of getting into Smash this time due to the fact that we had the Nane Trilogy ported over to the Switch, as well as a confirmed remake of Crash Team Racing. He's also an icon that is sorely missed with compatriots like Sonic, Snake, Cloud, and other icons of that time already being in the game.

Dante: 80% Chance -
This might be a weird one, but I think Dante has a pretty good chance of being in Smash. After having seen Bayonetta work in Smash, I think another demon hunter would be worth having on the roster, especially with the release of Devil May Cry 5 being relatively close upon us. However, it might be weird because of the fact that there aren't any DMC games on Nintendo hardware, but that didn't stop Joker from making his way over, so who knows? I just feel like there's a high chance, but that's probably just hopeless optimism.

Spyro the Dragon: 75% Chance -
Ditto for Spyro, as he basically has the same explanation as I gave for Crash, other than the fact that his trilogy isn't on Switch (hopefully it will be), plus the remake has definitely brought him back into the spotlight a little as a remembered character that deserves to be in Smash among other All-Star game characters. However, if Crash does make it in, Spyro doesn't, and vice versa, since I think it would take up too much space in this Fighter Pack. Though, if there's another fighter pack after this one, I can see both of them fitting in quite easily.

Leon Kennedy: 65% Chance -
With the Resident Evil 2 Remake, it would be a good time to capitalize on Leon's return to a new game with a Smash invitation. Resident Evil is a very notable series that had origins on the PlayStation, making me believe it would be somewhat difficult to have him added to the roster, though it would be great to see a no-nonsense moveset with practicality from someone like Leon.

Banjo Kazooie: 50% Chance -
Honestly, this is up to chance whether he makes it in, as Banjo was very high on the Smash Ballot. The only thing blocking the way is whether or not Microsoft will give Nintendo the rights to use Banjo for Smash (even though it's a game on N64, you'd think they'd be able to retain some right to use the character for re-releases or something)

The Hero from Dragon Quest 11: 50% Chance -
After seeing leaks and datamines of this guy showing up in Smash, I assume he's a safe choice, however, I don't have any experience with the Dragon Quest series of games yet (I hope to change that soon) so for me, this is just a coin toss as well. However, it would be good to see a character from such a long standing series such as Dragon Warrior/Quest to make it into Smash.

Reimu from Touhou: 40% Chance -
This also stems from a 4Chan leak I saw, but if you're gonna bring in an indie character, it better be from the first popular franchise that could really be considered "indie". I have a fondness for Touhou's bullet hell gameplay and I think there would be a really nice way of incorporating that into a moveset for Reimu to use. I think it would be weird to fit her in, due to the anime aesthetic, but I think it would work. I just hope it wouldn't add the floodgates of letting anime characters into Smash, that's what Jump Force should hopefully be.

Sora: 10% Chance -
Square has a weird thing with Smash, they didn't even want to let Cloud be in the game again, and they really don't like having FF music in Smash (hence why there's literally only 2 FF songs in the entire game, both belonging to FF7). Therefore, although people really want Sora to be a newcomer for Smash, I say that it's very, very unlikely if at all due to the controversy with Cloud already being in Smash.

master chief : 5% Chance -
This is more me speaking here. I think Master Chief has potential to have a moveset close to Snake's moveset and still be unique, and he's a gaming icon now, especially after great games like the Halo trilogy, ODST, and others. I severely doubt Microsoft would even let Nintendo near this character for Smash, though I think his legacy deserves a spot on this list

Doomguy: 5% Chance -
Now, if Smash can't have Master Chief, they might be able to settle for the next best thing in the form of Doomguy. Now, Doom is pretty special when it comes to Nintendo consoles, as some of the most notable ports of this game came out on SNES and GBA, along with a port of Doom 2016 for the Switch, I don't see this being entirely weird to see, though the M-Rating that Doomguy would have associated with him would probably make it difficult to get him and spirits involving the Doom series into Smash without a rating change being possible.

Now that's 10 characters right there, I could easily add 10 more (Lloyd, Isaac, Conker, Heihachi, Travis Touchdown, Tails, Crono, Joanna Dark, 2B, and Decidueye, easy) but I wanted to keep this post relatively short enough to keep people interested. A comprehensive list with actual research and analysis may be fun to do sometime in the future as well.

They introduced an amazing new state builder that I don't get to try. Because I don't have a Switch. ;-; What's worse, they're releasing better Switches some ways down the line. And I feel like I should wait for those before I purchase one.

From the day it was announced, I knew it was going to be a terrible game because I knew ugly-ass Bayonetta would return and strip in the faces of mislead young ones. Now that it's out and about... it's one of my most hated games ever. I'm just going to stick with Brawl, the last good Smash Bros. game before Bayonetta showed up and f***ed everything up. Every Smash game since Brawl sucks, and Smash Ultimate is a prime example of just that.

I haven't really played smash before but I have heard nothing but good things about it and I have seen a couple of characters announced like joker and bayonetta and I have also seen how many fire emblem characters they have. XD I do like the variation though it has a very wide selection of characters to play as so I can definitely see the appeal.
