In my opinion I like the laptop because you can do more than a Tablet and I like the Tablet because it has lot's of applications on it.

Well since I use a laptop I'll go with laptop. Mine is about to break soon though, trying to keep it alive lol.

I'd rather have a hardy laptop anyday, lol.

I like all of the fun things I can do with my laptop better. I've had it for a while and it's still working well.

I go with laptop. Even though the tablet has a lot of nice apps, it just doesn't compare in usefulness that a laptop provides.

Even though I don't own a laptop, I still prefer a laptop over a tablet because to me it seems a lot more compatible than a tabletop. So I'll choose a laptop anyday

I see this thread a lot on other forums I go to... And I always give the same general advice. I definitely see some uses in having a tablet, but for the most part I'd rather have an actual computer. But I've never been too fond even of laptops, just because I liked to be anchored down (And moreover: comfortable) whilst using a computer. I also like being able to upgrade what I own and not being "locked in" to some ecosystem. I like my computer because I can have Windows or Linux or BSD on it, and I can pick and choose what programs I use and if I don't want to pay for something there is always a free option that's just as good. Not so with Android and especially with iOS. Although Android does have a lot of free options for certain things they're not always as good.

And the size... All tablets seem to be in the 10" arena, which if you ask me is really too small for anything useful, and too big to be a quick pocket-held device. There was a 7" something I was sort of looking at a while back, when the Xoom came out. But again, it's too small to do anything other than be a quick reference. That said, I'd use it almost daily at work. There have been a few days even when I've wished I had something with a larger screen than my phone.

Which brings me to my next point: I already have an Android device. And granted it's not a very good one, but really, what do I need another glorified web browser for? Also, would it kill them to put a Bluray drive in a tablet? Sure it would increase the size, but not by that much! Then maybe as a replacement for a portable DVD player or my PSP. But as it is, I have to grab a movie I want to watch at home, rip it to my computer, then copy it to my tablet and god forbid I want to watch a different movie. I either have to go to Amazon or iTunes, and buy a movie I already own, then download it, when I could have just brought a laptop and DVD book.

I don't really know where I'm going with this. I guess I just don't like tablets but I can see why one would use them. If I won an iPad in a contest yeah, I'd probably use it every day, but I would never, ever buy one. (Now, a $99 Touchpad... Maybe)

I had to google the Tablet because I don't know what it is! xD Based on the images I've seen, it looks way too expensive, difficult to type and can break easily. I never liked touch screens of any device except cell phones. It would be nice to own a Tablet but it's not a necessity.

I've always used a laptop as opposed to a computer because for 1. it's portable, and 2. it's light and easy to carry around. The only things I dislike about a laptop is the mouse pads attached, which can be adjusted by plugging a regular mouse into the port, and the fact they overheat but again, there are devices to adjust that problem.

Overall I'd much rather use a laptop over any other internet using device.

I have to say Laptop for this.It has internet,you can play games and download emulators and all that stuff.You can even go on vizzed the easier way by using a laptop rather than a tablet because tablets are easy to break.

starwars293 : Just so you know, you can do each of those things on a tablet just as well as you can on a laptop.

And depending on what laptop and tablet you're talking about, some laptops are easier to break.

At this point, tablets are definitely not good enough to support everything I want to do when I use a computer. With a tablet I think I would feel extremely limited, it just doesn't compare. It would also be annoying to have to prop up or hold a tablet to use Skype, as opposed to just setting a laptop down on any surface. I currently have a Macbook Pro and it's the best computer I've ever had the pleasure to own or use.

I would rather have a laptop than a tablet. Tablets are nice and do have a bunch of neat features and such, but laptops (or just computers in general) are a lot more comfortable for me to use. I only really use tablets to play music.

I was really looking at some tablets, as they seemed fascinating and interesting.


Then I got a fancy Android phone.
My drive to get a tablet plummeted. Whatever they can do, I can do on my phone, which is much more portable, and has a physical keyboard. (though I would LOVE to be able to hook up a bluetooth keyboard up to it...)



Then again, I wouldn't really want a gaming grade heavy hunk of a laptop; I have a netbook and I love it heartily. Small, light, amazing keyboard... That's my love right there!

I'll take the laptop. You can do more with it overall, and it's almost as portable anyways.

Overall, I do like to use tablets, but they seem to be a pain, in my opinion, when you're typing rather than when you type on a laptop that has a physical keyboard.
