I've done the same many times, but it works a lot better out in the wilderness than where I live with all the light pollution.

Recently, I was able to go up in the mountains, where there is little light and atmospheric pollution, and see the stars from a big telescope there. It looked really pretty.

I rarely do it because I spend so much time indoors, and those times when I am outside in the dark is usually in places with a lot of light pollution. So a lot has to do with circumstances, but when I do happen to look up and see the stars it look amazing.

I love looking up at the stars, the scenery of the dark midnight sky with hundreds of twinkling stars...it's peaceful and breath taking.

If you look up at the stars often, you'll possibly see shooting stars. I've seen more than a dozen in my lifetime.

It's so incredible, and thanks to this, I've seen more shooting stars and satellites than any one else that I know. In fact, I think once I was looking at the sky and saw a super nova! I wasn't able to check for a few months after, and I couldn't remember when I saw it to check into whether or not there was a supernova visible by the naked eye that night, but I saw a star that suddenly increased in intensity before my eyes. It was pretty incredible, and I can't think of anything else it could be. On a related note, it's important to me to look up all the time, because Betelgeuse could blow at any moment, and I wouldn't want to miss that! (Not that I could, when it finally does go super nova, it'll be visible during the day).

I love looking at the stars in the middle of the night. It's so relaxing, and makes you feel very small compared to this entire unexplored universe. It's really fun to just sit in a lawn chair with a loved one/partner and just sip on a coca-cola/lemonade and just watch the stars. It's just as good as watching fireworks, in my opinion.

I've never been able to see much of anything here in the city. Sometimes even Venus is hard to see.


But when I lived at my Dad's farm, well away from any city or ambient light, I would climb on top of the garage and lay on my back, staring straight up for hours and hours, once right up until 2am. (I'd started looking at about 8pm that night)

I really miss that... Having a vantage point I could casually climb, and one that gave such an incredible view. Despite living so high north, I don't remember seeing the Northern lights ever. Could be that there was always a huge, thick and tall forest north of my vantage point.

Yeah, I've always loved watching the night sky, counting the stars and looking for different constellations. I did it as a child and still do.
I live in a little village...It can be a pain in the neck not having such a good public transfit and things like that, but all the nature is awesome. I really like going for a walk with my dog at night, hearing nothing except the rustling of little animals in the forest while looking nto the sky and seeing all whose glimmering stars up there...I wanna live in a town again someday, but I'll really miss those nights, that's for sure.

Sadly you don't see that many stars in New York . The
last time I've seen stars when I was 6 years old sitting
on the fire escape with my dad and brothers . ^^
