Sometimes, it's not so obvious to the player playing the game. And sometimes, you don't play for a while and you forget what you're doing, but Navi's there to tell you where you're going. So Navi isn't always annoying.

What is odvious, I know of obvious but never heard it with a d. Use spell check or something and navi is just N64's way of helping you through your quest. If you don't read the context in the story you can just listen to the fairy. Nothing wrong with little navi.

It can be useful when you weren't paying attention and you need a simple idea of where to go next or in navi's case, when a monster is close, navi will alert you which can be useful if your camera is screwed up or if your character is facing the wrong direction or if you don't notice the enemy the first time.
