Okay, it's been 5 years since Mother 3 was released for the Game Boy Advance in Japan. Now, if you're actually reading this, then you probably know alot about EarthBound 64, Mother 3, and the fan translation. Now, if EarthBound II doesn't get confirmed at E3 2012 or E3 2013, or any new EarthBound game, it probably means we're not going to get Mother 3 offically. A bunch of people already say it will NOT be released in America. However, I've heard nothing from Itoi saying anything about not coming out in America, nor have I heard anything from Iwata or Reggie concerning Mother 3, just the fate of EarthBound on VC. Here's what I think will happen: EarthBound Zero (Mother 1) and EarthBound II (Mother 3) would be re-released on 3DS. I mean, like I said, I don't know about NoA being "uncomfortable" with Mother 1 or 3, so it could happen... and I really hope it does.

What do you guys think would happen with Mother 3, if it ever gets an NoA release?

Mother 3 will never get a US release, if it does that means that hell has frozen over and pigs are flying. Nintendo has absolutely zero interest in Mother 3, and if they did they would have protested about the fan translation, but they actually celebrated it. Now, an Earthbound port isn't exactly out of the question... they've ported games far less popular than it in the past for the GBA and DS.

the_casualty : They celebrated the fan translation? Why, so they could get Mother 3 of thier minds? About the EarthBound port..  I thought NoA didn't like EarthBound, and was "uncomfortable" with it. Did you hear anything else about it?

Well, lots of people who worked at NoA emailed Tomato (the guy who worked on the translation), and some even offered to go out to eat with him.

I haven't heard of anything regarding an Earthbound port, I just think that it's entirely possible with the large American fan base.

the_casualty : They liked a fan translation so much that they went out to eat with him? Did they plan all this?

I guess an EartBound port is entriley possible, but I personally think a Mother 1 port would probably be more likely. But that's just what I think.

I'm assuming there was an NoA person who lived nearby, so it wasn't like he was flying across the country or anything lol.

Not gunna happen. Just play it online translated or download it. Nintendo sure as hell does not care about the game. If they did they would have brought it here the same time that Japan got that. Though they did not. So shows how much they listen. Reggie "I don't give a s*** what you want" Aime.

billythekidmonster : You must realize that although Earthbound has quite a following, a majority of gamers either haven't played the game or are completely unaware of it. Think of it as an underground following, persay.

Yeah, this is one of those Cult Classic games.

It's following is pretty small in all actuality, but is a very dedicated one.

I wouldn't mind a port of it, but I doubt that would happen. NoA has better things to do I'm assuming than cater to a pretty small fanbase.

I doubt anything will happen for a port to the 3ds either and for M1, well they would have to edit monsters and sprites because allot of them are stereotypical so nope.

legacyme3 : Yeah... I think I was too soon with E3 2012, because I think they'll start to think about a little more when 3DS and Wii U get wha they need done. Hopefully....

redtorget : If cartoons just love sterotypes, then I'm sure Nintendo could use them jus for once.
