Yesterday, I was bored and watched about 3 horror movies...1408 was one of them. Surprisingly, I've never seen it till yesterday. Out of the 4 this was the most interesting.

I've read the book and it slightly differentiate's from the movie. My question to you is, have you read the book and/or seen the movie? What are your thoughts of the concept and movie itself? Did you like it?

Yeah, it's a really great film, one of my favorites from King. The whole idea of a cursed/evil place is not by any means new, even in his own history, but this movie was very well done in my opinion. I still haven't gotten around to actually reading it, but I'm sure the literature is of comparable, if not superior quality. Very creepy.

I rented 1408 a few years ago.  In all, the movie was pretty solid.  John Cusack did a really good job.  It's nice to see a horror movie have some old fashioned scares as opposed to twisting human limbs till they pop and tear in a bloody mess(Saw 3 or 4 I think) or some other crazy demented torture scenes.  There's no gore in this movie, but there's some well timed boogey men jumping from the shadows.  I liked the film toward the end, when John thought he had escaped from the hotel room, living a normal life back in 'California' I think, only to have the walls literally torn down around him and find himself back in the haunted hotel room with no chance of escape. 

I've never read the book/short story.  I've never read a Steven King book that I can remember.

I have not seen the movie nor the book.  I think that horror books are not so interesting cause you would want to actually see it what is happening.  I have never heard of it.  I might watch it.

I haven't read the book (nor did I know there was one till just now).
It is a brilliant movie though!
I thought the beginning dragged on quite a while but the middle and ending definitely made up for it. 
I may have to go watch it again now, I have it right here as well.


I am also considering hunting down the book to see if there is a large difference, though it would have been better if I had of read the book before watching the movie because now I cannot create characters in my head. It will just be the people in the movie in my mind. Oh well, I'm sure it will be brilliant regardless.

I actually really liked this movie. It was one of the few suspenseful horror films I really enjoyed. It kept me guessing the how and why's. It also kept my attention throughout the entire film.

The story is actually pretty frightening if you read it at night with no noise around. I've never been terribly happy with horror stories/ novels being made into movies especially if I've read them first. They usually have to simmer the story down a good bit and that kind of ruins it.

Oh yeah this is the movies based on a Stephan King book is it not?
