If you have not seen my thread about how long can cats live, then you would not know what this thread is.  My mom is going to try to make an appointment for my cat to go to the vet and I just started to get upset.  She told me that she needs to be checked up to see if she has something or not.  If the doctor says that she is suffering from a disease, then they would have to kill her.  If she is infected by something, then my mom would get medicine for her.  I can't even type in this thread about this cause it is very painful to me.  I know that I have been hating on the cat and disliking her, but she is the only cat I ever had as a pet.  If she is gone, I will be dreadful because I have never had any of my pets die.  So I am hoping that she will be okay during the check up.  I do not know what I will do if she is not here.  This is going to be a shocking upcoming weekend.  I am not ready for this to happen.  It will not be the same in this house without her.  I will try to upload pictures of her from when she looked like her own self to what she looks like now if she passes away in a different thread.  I will give you a little information about her and I will also put that in the "if possible" thread.
Her name is Sissy (her real name is Princess, but my mom changed it to Sissy because me and my brothers would have a hard time saying it when we were younger) and she is 16 years old (1 year younger than me).  She is a Canadian cat.
I hope that she will be okay and I cannot go through this seeing a first cat die and a first pet die at the same time.  I hope God will heal her for us and hopefully not die out on us. I hate the hearing of saying that if she is suffering, they will have to put her out of her misery.  That just kills me inside.

I've had a few pets die. It is not fun at all =/

Just remember that eventually everything returns to the Earth and it is just the cycle of life.

It's also ok for a man to cry.

Just try to be with people you love.

I know the feeling,its never good when a pet dies,but part of owning a pet is looking out for it,especialy if its suffering.

It must be hard on you but you should be happy for your cat based on the fact its lived so long but I know how you feel I had to see one of my cats(or kitten it was still young) die of blood loss.

I have been in a similar position. I remember one cat I had gotten from my kindergarten teacher had passed away even though we gave him medicine for the problem. Burying him was difficult. Stay strong, Marc. I'll pray for you.

Marcmoney : hey that's really bad....I hope she will be fine....and really come out of it, because when I was really young I brought one home and it lived almost when I was an early ado...but really after she departed [killed by Dogs/Cat]  that was really hard to live with.....but I really hope your pet goes well....

Wow... 16 years. She's practically family now. I hope that your mom returns with positive news about Sissy. I couldn't stand to lose a pet like that either. >w<

I know exactly what you are going through I have had 2 times like that......  First was my life long pal Jack who had to be put down from organ failure....  I was a mess for weeks I couldn't stop crying he was my best pal the only being I could feel love from.  Even now after 4 years it still hurts.  Then last year we got a kitten named Princess from an animal shelter the radio station was sponsoring she was only a few months old.  She started to sneeze we got her checked up and it turned out she had this horrible feline disease that is incurable.   All the cats from that shelter had it hundreds of them had to be put down at the same time including my dear Princess.  Even though she only lived with us for 2 weeks it was so so hard she was so so young!  But out of that sadness and horror the vets had a group of kittens born and said when they were of age we could take one.  A few months later we brought home Misty our white cat with two splotches of black one on the head and one on the tail with two colored eyes blue and yellow.

Even though if you do have to loose Sissy your sorrow will be healed soon enough by another angelic pet.  I believe this because Misty has healed those two big losses she acts just like both Jack and Princess.  The incredible intelligence and loyalty of Jack and the yearning for a caring mother that Princess wanted.  Be brave, be strong soon the light will come.

My cat has went to the doctors today and it seems that she is okay for now.  My mom told me that Sissy were to give blood and the doctors will give us the results on Tuesday.  She may either have diabetes, liver failure, cancer, etc.  What is okay is that my mom won't mind if she has diabetes cause she will give medicine to her.  I hope it isn't too serious. By the way, they also weighed her.  She was 12 pounds and now she is 4 1/2 pounds.

By 12 pounds, do you mean that when she was healthy? Such a drop in weight doesn't seem like it would be safe.

I'm glad that initial tests showed she was fine. I hope that the blood test will yield nothing serious either.

Sorry to say that the drop in weight might be diabetes (even though it's a bit too much for a diabetic animal) or cancer.  I hope things go well and my prayres go out to you, your family, and Sissy the cat.  I do hope a good outcome will happen and not a bad one.

I've had two of my pet cats die, but they were pretty much feral for me, so I only bidded them a brief goodbye before moving on.

I'm glad to hear that your cat is currently okay, but that kind of weight drop should worry anyone with a shred of common sense. Nobody loses that much, even a small animal like a cat.

If anything, just wait patiently and spend your time with the cat until the doctor comes back with the results. Hope Sissy will be okay!

I usually get so sad when pets are close to passing. I always get so sad that my cute adorable little friend will no longer be around and stare back at me with his eyes. Glad to hear ur cat is ok Marc.
