I've been job hunting for kinda a long time now (like 5 months, and before that, two years) because I had a job in April, but was fired after a week (long story for another thread). Anyway, I've been sending my apps and resume out to company after company, with no responses, and no luck...

Finally, at the beginning of this week, I started to revise and revamp my own resume. My mother saw it and almost choked at how horrible it was (Yeah, that bad). She immediately rushed me to the library and I went home with about 6 books in my arms all about how to type a resume. Fun day, right?

So for two days straight, I fixed it up, made it look as professional as a High School graduate could make it, and with confidence in tow, sent out my resume again to as many companies as I could in the time I had, which was only about an hour.

That was yesterday.

After I sent out my resume, I went home (I was using someone else's computer) and that trip took ten minutes. Walking in the door...

I had a message on the answering machine. Ten minutes time, and I already had a response!

It was a worker from Verizon. The phone company, you know? One of the TOP PHONE COMPANIES IN THE WORLD?!?! And now I have an interview set up. I'm so excited!

I have to dress like a corporate snob, but the earning potential is going to be THROUGH THE ROOF if I get this job!!!

what did you do, and how the hell did you get so lucky?

More importantly, could you give me some of that? I never have had an interview despite over 50 applications in the past year. =|

legacyme3 : Like I said, I fixed my resume. I made crap sound like gold, and I made my laziness sound like an honest skill. Haha. PM me if you have some honest questions, and I'll help the best I can, but not here, in a post.

That goes for anybody that reads this. I've finally got my act together, and I'm job hunting for real this time!

So how long did you say the job search was exactly? You said 2 years before, and 5 months after, is that in regards to what you changed on your applications?

Wow, that's great! =D I wish something like that would happen to me, haha. I've sent out so many applications and I have gotten nothing.

Never even happened to me. Probably because I am not even looking for a job right now (though I will be later this year) I hope that all goes well for you in the interview!

What part of Verizon even called you? The part that says that your phone needs to be payed for?

Zeldisaster : They will probably do a background check on you, I hope this site doesn't have your real name or else they'll read this lol. But for real, be expected for them to look you up. I'm not completely sure if Verizon does that, but a lot of companies do.

Sephitard9001 : It's a delicate business focussed on selling expensive electronic equipment responsible for hundreds of billions of dollars in average revenue sales. OF COURSE they'll do a background check, but I don't mind. I'm as clean as white snow.

Ok, it's official. I'm lucky! Two weeks ago, I believe is when I posted this thread. And I've got a job now! Always rely on your resume, it's your way to explain what an application won't ask you. It tells them your skills on paper, which sounds REALLY GOOD. I got this job without having to ask a SINGLE personal question about myself, because they knew it'll all come out on the job itself. Learn from my mistakes, and my success!
