I decided I'd start a Nuzlocke challenge on Fire Red. For those who don't know what it is, the two main rules are:


1. If your pokémon faints, it is dead. It can't be used again.
2. You can only catch the first pokémon that appears in an area. If it faints or runs away, you can't catch another one.

These two rules must be in place. The rest of the rules are just personal preference. Bulbapedia has a more  in-depth description about it.


My rules are:
No duplicate captures.
Pokémon can only hold berries.
If you black/white out, you must start the challenge over unless you have usable pokémon in storage.

I love and hate the Nuzlocke Challenge. It's a great way to change up the easy difficulty that you normally find on Pokemon games, and you get a lot more attached to your Pokemon. Some rules say you have to release your Pokemon if they faint, but I just keep them in storage because I couldn't bear to do that.

The first time I did this on Emerald, my Mudkip fainted on the first gym. That was not a happy event for me. xD

Right now, I'm pretty much stuck in Dewford because all I have is a Wingull, Zubat, Whismer, and a Mudkip. They aren't very good odds for the water gym.

Someone70 : I have a love/hate relationship with it as well so I've been hopping between it & my monotype grass challenge in Emerald. Winona was terrible. I've been tempted to actually start a Nuzlocke challenge on Emerald & Crystal as well. As for your Nuzlocke challenge, if you're still attempting it, your Wingull & Zubat should do fine in Dewford. The fighting type moves should do very little damage to them. Evolving the Mudkip would also help.
