Has anyone ever accused you of spreading rumors and in fact you never did?

Unfortunately, recently I was accused of such a thing. I don't spread rumors about others, no matter how bad they act or whatever.

I'm pretty sure that I have been accused. I think everyone has at one time or another been wrongly accused of something.

NotJon : Yeah I agree. What I don't get, is the person that accused me, didn't even ask, they just assumed that it was true. Which is a little immature in my opinion. I mean, at least ASK me if it's true or not first. If I actually am guilty of something, I'll admit to it. I'm not that stubborn. But I know I did not spread any rumors about the person, in any way, shape or form.

Unfortunately, yes. =| It's really immature. Especially if they don't have PROOF that you started the rumor and they're just accusing YOU of it for no reason. And I agree - there's nothing wrong with ASKING. If I did something wrong, I'll admit to it. 

tabbikatt13 : Exactly. If you have no proof that someone is starting rumors, don't accuse them. It's common courtesy to ask the person before you just accuse them of doing something. And that goes for anything that someone gets accused of.

I myself don't actually talk to much and am rather passive. I haven't been accused, and hope it doesn't happen lol.

UserMike : I hope it never happens to you either. It really sucks to have someone accuse you of something you didn't do.

SunflowerGaming : No I haven’t been accused of spreading rumors but unfortunately I have been the victim of those who spread rumors. It’s not a good feeling at all especially when you know that what’s being spread is utter BS for lack of a better term and, those who hear the nonsense often know it’s BS but rarely call those who start rumors out on it. There’s an old saying but I believe it. People always believe the first thing they hear, even when they sometimes shouldn’t.

bvd1022 : That's exactly why I would NEVER spread a rumor about anyone. I know how it feels to be on the receiving end. It isn't a good feeling. But to be accused of spreading rumors, I feel if someone falsely accuses someone of spreading rumors, they obviously don't know you*SunflowerGaming very well. I am the kind of person that will fess up if I have done anyone any wrong. I don't like lying. It just gets you into more trouble. I am not saying that I do anything to people, but if they tell me I hurt their feelings or anything like that, I do apologize sincerely. And if I ever do something and I know I did something wrong, I will admit to it.

SunflowerGaming : I understand what you’re saying there. I’ve talked about how I’ve been single for x amount of years on this site, well one of the reasons for that was rumors my ex started and even years later I still deal with that nonsense from time to time. Like I said utter BS… Even though she apologized recently after I reluctantly allowed her to reconnect with me via social media, the damage was done long ago and even though I told her I appreciated the apology there’s not much she could say that would change things so many years later. What can you do, you know?

It’s a shame that people feel a need to resort to something so despicable for whatever reason whether it be simply a lack of maturity or just down right vindictiveness it’s sad. I am far from perfect and have never claimed to be and I much like you, have tried to own up and learn from whatever mistakes I’ve made.

It’s sad that some people can learn from what they go through in life and it is what they go through that allows them to become a better more well rounded person if they let it and, others for whatever reason just stay at a certain level of maturity or immaturity to be more blunt and never grow up. It’s sad it really is.


As for me I hop that maybe by the time I hit my mid 30s that I’ll get one more at bat in the relationship department.

Yes, I've been accused of  a rumor before and both you and I know what that one is. It's sad really when people spread falsely rumors about something that's not even true. Besides. If it was true. We would have let them know on our own time. Not let the immature rumor spread about like that. Lol

bvd1022 : Yeah I can understand where you're coming from. It's hard to make things better if the person that did the damage waits too long to try to fix it. And even then, some things are just not fixable.

Natas : Exactly. If we want to tell people things about ourselves, we'll do it our own time. 

i have never been spread rumors and everyone i know know's that but my old crazy neighbor accused me of stealing bolts out of her wood (i could say some mean things right now)

I have been. I really do not like it very much just because I don't do it usually. I just more so talk behind others backs. Though that stuff is usually true and I will confront them on what I was talking about.

SunflowerGaming : Well I can’t forgive her for what I had to deal with but I did appreciate the apology. About a month ago she showed up at my house out of the blue so that was uncomfortable for me to have a face to face but I got through it and was nice enough to give her 45 minutes of my time despite that I had been up all night working the night before.

It’s not that big a thing obviously but I think it speaks of my class that I was civil and cordial with her despite what went on years ago and what I’ve went through because of it. I would be lying though if I said that I enjoyed the conversation and was looking forward to seeing her again. That would be an outright lie.

bvd1022 : I understand. I know from personal experience that some things are just not forgivable. Oh boy do I know. 

SunflowerGaming : Well it’s not that I’m vindictive toward her or anything like that. It’s just a situation where I was lied to by her about things that no one should be lied to about and, once the relationship was over then she started spreading nonsense around which kind of prevented me from moving on in regard to relationships.


Like I said I was civil and cordial with her but I was happy when it was over and I went back inside my house. I may have been civil but it’s doubtful that they’ll be much of a friendship beyond a friendly hello here and there.

bvd1022 : I can understand that. I mean, some things are just unforgivable. I've been in situations where I can't forgive the person for what they're done. It's rare for me to not forgive, so you have had to do something really bad for me not to forgive you. And at least you're being civil. You could have just been mean and not talked to her at all. She should be thankful you're even giving her that hello here and there. But that's just my opinion.

I have spread rumors, I have been accused of starting them, I've been the subject of a few. There really isn't much escaping it these days, especially with texting and facebook.

tj4bigred : I disagree. Rumors can be helped if the people that start them in the first place didn't..... But unfortunately most people are that nice or caring.
