Greetings, all! I am the next host of Mafia: The Slightly Logical Detective Game. I will be guest hosting to fill in for silverthundr, as he wishes to take part in the shenanigans.

I've spent the past couple of days looking over some of the past rounds of Mafia on here and seeing the differences between how it's run here and how it's run on other places. The differences are, thankfully, minimal, and I'll be able to adjust quickly. I've hosted and played in games of Mafia before, so experience won't be a problem; I also used to play for fun on EpicMafia, so I know the ins and outs of the game.

The game will begin four days from now, on Saturday, April 6th, 2013. If I summoned you above, you're already signed up; otherwise, sign up before it's too late!

For some reason, I have a feeling I will be a useful person this time on this Mafia round, even if for the town, the mafia or myself, I have a feeling I will get a special role.

Go read it. A lot of old information has been removed or brought up to date, and plenty of new information has been added.

There's something that's always confused me. When I was Godfather, I got to choose who died but in the rules it says all mafia get to vote on who dies. Does that depend on the host?

99% of the time, yes, every single rule depends on the host.

In my games, the godfather chose the kill order, and had the benefit of being invisible for all intents and purposes. The mafia voted, emphasizing a team effort, rather than one strong godfather.

Other people like hosting the games under the rules that makes the godfather more powerful.

In cases of a tie in a vote btw, the godfather chose in my version.

Except for the Christmas one, there was no real "Godfather". By which I mean, there was no person who was investigation-immune. It was just that there was only 1 Mafiosi who could kill at any one time, while the others used powers. Of course, if I was hosting something more vanilla, with some actual Vanilla Mafia, I'd probably use the Mafia vote.

Most likely, I am going to host the next round. Also, it's really early to sign up, so don't even try.

I wasn't going to. I was just curious about the host. Random theme ideas had been circling in my head.

I'll probably regret this decision, but uh, since it looks like it's coming to a close, I'll sign up for the next game.

Okay, I'm going to just be straight.

Depending on how stuff going on in the real world, well, goes, I might lose internet access for and undefined period of time. In that case, I'd obviously would have trouble hosting Mafia. And as it stands, I don't have anyone that could really take over.

Even if everything goes well enough, I was already planning on having a little break to Mafia. I'm kind of burnt out on it, and I might end up being kinda busy and not having all that much time to be running Mafia.

As it stands, the next Mafia game probably will not start until then end of June/start of July. And since there's probably not too many people who know they will be interested and available in a month, so there's just not going to be any sign ups.

I'm going to leave this thread open for discussion, though. And if you really need your mafia fix, you can always check out EpicMafia, a chat mafia site.
