Ok so this is kind of a question as well as well a question. So here is the first and more important question.

1.What is a program to make video game music for free? I am talking like 16 bit type music. IT MUST BE FREE!

2. What is your favorite 16 bit or 8 bit music? Naming the game is fine.

I know of Famitracker, which you can use to create 8-bit sounds and music. You can see it in action here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GaZ09guoKs8

Some great 16-bit music is from Earthbound. The themes in there are really addicting to listen to every time you play.

If you want 64-bit music, you can download Mario Paint (which you can get with a quick Google search) and install a custom soundfont. This means, instead of the usual Mario tinks and Gameboy bleeps you usually hear, you can replace those sounds with different ones. To find out how to get and install one, do another Google search.
